President Joe Biden seemed to have the Democrats in his corner, during the 2020 election.
However, they have been distancing themselves from him recently.
Questions of his mental state and health consistently come up and they are getting impossible to ignore…even for Democrats.
Joe Biden will be 80-years-old in November, and they are still saying he will run for a second term.
However, a left-wing organization is launching a campaign to prevent President Joe Biden From becoming a 2024 Democrat nominee.
RootsAction, which has an email list of 1.2 million people, called Joe Biden “neither bold nor inspiring.” They said they believe that nominating him will be a “tragic mistake,” according to Politico.
They created a website called DontRunJoe.org.
The site says “Poll after poll confirms: Americans are ready to move on from Joe Biden.”
They announced this campaign on July 11:
The #DontRunJoe campaign will launch nationwide on November 9, 2022 — the day after the midterm elections. Until then, maximum efforts should be expended to defeat Republicans in congressional and state races across the country.
The shortcomings of the Biden administration should neither be denied nor used as an excuse to sit out the 2022 midterm election battles. “Moderate” policies have failed to truly address such pressing concerns as the climate emergency, voting rights, student debt, health care, corporate price-gouging, and bloated military spending in tandem with anemic diplomacy. Meanwhile, no Republican candidate on the horizon is worthy of being elected to any of the 435 House seats or the 35 Senate seats up for grabs this year.
They explain why they are launching this campaign:
We felt impelled to intervene at this time because while there is a mainstream media debate raging over whether Joe Biden should run again, that discussion is too narrow and lacking in substance – focused largely on his age or latest poll numbers. We object to Biden running in 2024 because of his job performance as president. He has proven incapable of effectively leading for policies so badly needed by working people and the planet, including policies he promised as a candidate.
They make the case that Biden is not progressive enough and hasn’t done enough for the movement:
On issue after issue, Biden has offered “too little, too late” – from voting rights to abortion rights to student debt to the climate crisis – and he has spent 18 months demonstrating that he is incapable of using the power of the presidential “bully pulpit” to mobilize for victory. On many issues, he has failed to use his executive authority, including the power to issue executive orders, to defend working families – a failure that can’t be blamed on Congress.
They also go on to explain that they do not have a “horse” in this race, but that they want to clear the way for a progressive candidate to win.
