Colorado Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert spoke out against MSNBC host Joy Reid for spreading a false and unproven conspiracy theory about Trump.
“You know, while all of this is happening, we know that in 2021, there was a rash of deaths of American spies. They were being caught. They were being killed because this was a very real and exigent circumstance.
“And so, what we don’t want to happen is for Donald Trump, during his final days in office, to start betraying American spies or leaking their identities or doing anything that could endanger them. We need to be very, very vigilant about that.”
Boebert quickly took to Twitter to ask, “Why does MSNBC allow Joy Reid to spout baseless conspiracy theories on their airwaves?”
The theory that Trump would leak the identities of American spies has been circulating for weeks and has been repeatedly debunked by multiple outlets.
This is not the first time that Reid has come under fire for her comments on air. Last year, she came under fire for suggesting that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was in league with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
MSNBC did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheWrap.
Reid continued: “And the CIA has admitted to that now. And we are not saying that we know that there is some connection between the purloined documents and those events. But they did happen at a time when Trump did have custody of some really sensitive information that he shouldn’t have had.
“You know, you think about that. You think about Victor Vekselberg, who’s being investigated for something else, for fraud. But he’s a, you know, Russian oligarch, sort of Trump crony.
“His house recently got raided. His yacht got seized. You are being investigated for something different. But Trump knows the kinds of people who one might want to investigate, who might want to do bad things to the United States and might not be on our side.
“And I wonder how frustrated you think law enforcement must be knowing that they can’t look into any of that.”
Now, Reid is facing criticism for suggesting that President Donald Trump could be leaking the identities of American spies.
Reid made the comments on her show, “AM Joy,” on Saturday.
“This is a president who has already demonstrated that he is willing to sacrifice our national security for his own personal gain,” Reid said. “That he is willing to sell out our intelligence community, to leak information that could get people killed, for his own petty and vindictive reasons.”
“So when we talk about the fact that he might know the identities of American spies, and he might be willing to give that information to Russia, we’re not talking about something that is out of character for this president,” she added.
Trump has denied the allegations and called Reid a “lowlife.” The left will do and say anything to cast Trump aside ahead of the 2024 presidential election. With Biden looking weak, they have to.
