Two Muslim women who were invited to the Biden-Harris event in Las Vegas, Nevada after organizers barred them from entering the venue.
In a video published on Tuesday, the two women wearing hijabs were about to enter the “Get The Vote Out” event when organizers blocked them despite presenting their invitations and wristbands, required to allow entry.
The women accused the event staff of racial profiling and discrimination.
“Why are you choosing us not to go in when we have an invite?” blasted one woman.
The second woman added, “Right, you specifically singled us out.”
The event organizer ignored the two and continued to let other attendees inside.
They confronted the staff and said, “Is that against the Democrats’ whole campaign?”
“That’s very Islamophobic. That’s very racist.”
To which the organizer replied, “I’m sorry.”
One woman responded, “They’re disinviting us because we have hijabs on our heads… this is disgusting,” she said. “Obviously, we’re the only hijabi women, that’s kind of clear. They’re disinviting us because we have scarves on our heads…that’s disgusting… when we have an invitation just like everyone else. What is the problem?”
“I feel really targeted right now and that’s disgusting,” she continued. “We didn’t do anything wrong. We literally have an invite, we have a wristband…we showed our ID.”
Nevadans for Palestinian Liberation condemned the incident and said, “Both of these Muslim constituents had RSVPd for the event, were given wristbands upon checking in, and were standing in line when the Harris campaign officials denied them entry.”
Before the incident in Nevada, Biden’s events had experienced protests from supporters of Palestinian advocacy, many of them tagged the President as “Genocide Joe.”
Biden’s campaign staff told NBC that they ordered volunteers at different events to look out for potential disruptors and bar them from attending.
However. the incident involving two Muslim women is a clear picture of racial profiling, apparently because of their ethnic appearance, that drew criticisms from pro-Palestinian and Muslim communities.
Nevadans for Palestinian Liberation continued, “As you can clearly see in the video, these women were ‘disinvited’ while others were being let in who were in line behind them. When pressed about why they were not allowed in, the Harris officials could not give a legitimate reason.”
In December 2023, Muslims in swing states organized the #AbandonBiden campaign for his warmongering in Israel and Gaza.
According to the group, “This #AbandonBiden 2024 conference is set against the backdrop of the upcoming 2024 presidential election and the decision to withdraw support for President Biden due to his unwillingness to call for a ceasefire and protect innocents in Palestine and Israel.”
In a 2020 Census, about 3.5 million Americans reported being of Middle Eastern and North African descent.
However, the results of the presidential elections are greatly affected by swing states where Middle Eastern and Muslim Americans are mostly concentrated.
