The fallout from the FBI’s “siege” of Former President Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago estate continues to mount. The latest setback reportedly came in the form of criticism from the left, wondering why the FBI chose to raid Trump now instead of earlier.
The right’s current criticisms of the FBI are based on the belief that the agency had abused its power. This, in turn, causes moderates to feel caught in the middle and horrified at what they’re witnessing.
The Washington Examiner noted that “progressives” have been criticizing the Biden administration for not charging Trump with any crimes related to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot as of yet, and that the Mar-A-Lago raid may have been an overstep.
“Some on the left have also accused federal law enforcement of going too far in their investigation into Trump and his allies and family, with some even equating the actions to those taken by former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover against his political enemies,” the Examiner continued.
Trump himself has broken his silence on the matter, releasing a statement on Tuesday that read in part: “It is now just a matter of time before all of the real and serious criminals are exposed, and brought to justice. Our Country can never tolerate lawlessness or anarchy.”
The former president also doubled down on his previous statements that the DOJ has been “politicized” under Biden, and that the situation is “worse than ever before.”

Some lawmakers on Capitol Hill have called for investigations into the Mar-A-Lago raid, with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) going so far as to say that he would subpoena FBI Director Christopher Wray if necessary.
“I want to know why they did it, how they did it, and I want to know whether or not the search warrant was valid,” Graham told Fox News on Tuesday.
The Mar-A-Lago raid is just the latest development in an ongoing saga that began on Jan. 6, when a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol in an attempt to stop the certification of Biden’s Electoral College victory.
Five people died as a result of the riot, including one Capitol Police officer. Trump has been accused of inciting the violence, although he has denied any wrongdoing.
The DOJ has since launched a wide-ranging investigation into the riot, with more than 400 people facing charges in connection to the event. Trump himself is not currently a target of the investigation, although that could change if new evidence emerges.
The Mar-A-Lago raid has put additional pressure on Biden to act, as many Americans are wondering why Trump has not been charged with any crimes related to the riot.
Biden has so far resisted calls to appoint a special counsel to investigate the riot, saying that he wants to “let the process play out.”
It remains to be seen what will come of the Mar-A-Lago raid, and whether or not Trump will eventually be charged in connection with the Capitol riot. In the meantime, the pressure on Biden to act continues to mount.

I don’t think 5 people died “as a result of the riot” but I know of one, her name was Ashli Babbitt
