Biden Opposes Allies Plan to Vote Censure on Iran’s Nuclear Development

In his bid for reelection, President Joe Biden is willing to put global safety at risk amid the ongoing illegal nuclear development of Iran.

According to reports, Biden has been discouraging allies in the European region from vote censure on Iran for its continued development of their nuclear program.

An article by the Wall Street Journal noted, “The Biden administration is pressing European allies to back off plans to rebuke Iran for advances in its nuclear program as it seeks to keep tensions with Tehran from escalating before the autumn’s US presidential election.”

A source told the WSJ: “The US is arguing against an effort by Britain and France to censure Iran at the International Atomic Energy Agency’s member state board in early June.”

Biden has been pressing other countries to vote to abstain in a censure vote, saying that Washington will be doing the same.

“European diplomats have warned that failure to take action would undermine the authority of the IAEA, which polices nonproliferation of nuclear weapons,” the report added.

Diplomats said that voting against the censure of Iran “weakens the credibility of Western pressure on Iran.”

They also blasted the US efforts to undermine their approach.

The Biden administration claims that instead of voting against Iran’s nuclear program, they are imposing increased pressure on Iran through “sanctions and international isolation,” however, reports also exposed Biden of relaxing their restrictions on the country to pave the way for profiting out of tens of billions of dollars in oil sales.

According to the latest data from the IAEA, Iran has doubled their uranium and fissile stockpiles to produce three nuclear weapons.

However, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reported that despite his efforts to improve relations with the Iranian regime, Iran repeatedly tried to dismiss the organization’s oversight.

Iran has since turned down Biden’s attempt to get them back to discuss a nuclear agreement. To circumvent this, the White House tries to take a diplomatic approach to control and deal with Iran’s nuclear development.

The Biden administration is wary that a censure vote might anger Tehran, and the situation might escalate, especially since Iran feels vulnerable after the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

Several critics and lawmakers blasted Biden’s “appeasement” on Iran, which they believe would only embolden the country against the rest of the West.

The State Department has not responded yet on the issue.

The IAEA’s board of governors will meet from June 3 to 7.
