Hedge fund billionaire and longtime Democrat Bill Ackman echoed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in slamming the jurors for handing a guilty verdict on Donald Trump’s sham trial.
For Ackman and DeSantis, the Manhattan trial was a ‘kangaroo court’ facilitated by a biased judge.
Ackman on X said, “I think any objective person would have to agree with Gov. Ron DeSantis here.”
Alvin Bragg’s jury found Trump guilty of 34 counts of felony charges of falsifying business records to pay porn actress Stormy Daniels on Thursday. The case is presided over by Judge Juan Merchan, who was conflicted even from the start.
DeSantis wrote that the result of a six-week bogus trial was the “culmination of a legal process that has been bent to the political will of the actors involved: a leftist prosecutor, a partisan judge, and a jury reflective of one of the most liberal enclaves in America—all in an effort to “get” Donald Trump.”
The Florida governor added, “It is often said that no one is above the law, but it is also true that no one is below the law.”
“If the defendant was not Donald Trump this case would never have been brought, the judge would never have issued similar rulings, and the jury would have never returned a guilty verdict.”
Ackman, CEO of Pershing Square Capital Management, is now geared to endorse President Trump, according to reports.
According to a source close to the billionaire, he is now leaning towards backing the former president and thinks Joe Biden must be removed from the Oval Office.
Before this, Ackman donated to Trump’s rivals during the primaries. He also previously financed Democrats, including Dean Phillips, who challenged Biden this year.
The source added that Ackman doubts if RFK, Jr. has a shot of winning the presidency and emphasized that the billionaire’s disdain for Biden has outweighed his opinions on Trump.
Earlier, the billionaire raised concerns about the surge of anti-semitism and pro-Hamas terrorist protests in colleges and universities.
His endorsement was highly influenced by the support thrown by Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman.
“The dramatic rise of antisemitism has led me to focus on the consequences of upcoming elections with greater urgency,” Schwarzman said in an interview.
Even the Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, could not contain his outrage at Trump’s conviction in a series of posts on X.
Musk wrote, “Indeed, great damage was done today to the public’s faith in the American legal system.”
“If a former President can be criminally convicted over such a trivial matter – motivated by politics, rather than justice – then anyone is at risk of a similar fate.”
He also replied to DeSantis’ post on X and said: “Well said.”
