The January 6th provocateur “Ray Epps” who was caught attempting to egg on protestors ahead of the 1/6 Capitol protest, is now scheduled to appear in front of the January 6th Select Committee for a transcribed interview.
According to a Politico report, Epps’ attorney confirmed the Friday event in a phone interview. Epps was captured in multiple videos trying to encourage protestors to break into the Capitol building. He was on the FBI’s Most Wanted List after the event but was soon mysteriously removed.
According to Politico, Epps appeared in front of the select committee in an “informal meeting” back in November. Now, after speculations from all sides, Epps will be doing a formal transcribed interview on Friday.
John Blischak, the lawyer representing Epps told Politico that the reason behind Epps mysterious removal from the FBI’s most-wanted list is because he was no longer an “unidentified suspect” Blischak claims, Epps called the FBI on 1/8 and “explained his position”
“Epps didn’t enter the Capitol on Jan 6, and was removed from the most wanted list because apparently he broke no laws. I’m pretty sure the FBI wouldn’t be dumb enough to put their own agent on a wanted list. Ray Epps has cooperated with the Jan 6 committee and we thank him,” Rep.Adam Kinzinger, one of the only two Republicans on the January 6th Select Committee tweeted on Jan. 11.
“So the definitive statements made by Adam Kinzinger swallowed by the media about how Ray Epps never worked with FBI were based not no sworn testimony but just ‘informal meetings’ with the Committee, and the denial was confined just to FBI, not all government agencies? LOL,” independent journalist Glenn Greenwald said quote tweeting Adam Kinzinger.
“As always: don’t let the Ray Epps case distract from this crucial fact: more than one year after 1/6 – with DOJ conducting what it says is its largest investigation ever and a parallel investigation in Congress – they all refuse to say how many FBI informants/agents participated,” Greenwald added.
