The open southern border, courtesy of the Biden administration, has had many far-reaching effects all over the United States.
Now the problems associated with allowing anyone who wishes to cross our border are going as far as Canada.
Overwhelmed New York City officials started buying bus tickets to Canada for illegal migrants.
Quebec Premier Francois Legault is not amused. He has accused the NYC mayor, Eric Adams, of assisting the illegal migrants in entering Canada.
Legault issued a statement through his spokesperson, Ewan Sauves, saying, “Any form of assistance to migrants crossing the border where it is strictly forbidden to do so should stop immediately.”
Adams denied the action, telling CNN’s Don Lemon, “No, we don’t send migrants to Canada! That needs to be clear!”
One has to wonder about the validity of that statement. The New York Times published an article entitled, “Why New York City Is Buying Bus Tickets for Migrants Headed to Canada.”
In part, the article reads, “New York officials, who once condemned Texas leaders for busing migrants from the southern border, calling the treatment inhumane, are buying bus tickets for newcomers who want to go north and seek asylum in Canada.”
The city government, according to New York Post reporting, was buying bus tickets “for illegal aliens to travel to Plattsburgh, a city in upstate New York only 30 mins away from the Canadian border and 60 miles from Montreal.”
According to Sauves, Canada’s social services are overwhelmed by the nearly 40,000 migrants that have crossed the border from Plattsburgh in 2022.
It’s just semantics. He’s not “sending” them. He’s offering them an option. After all, Adams was very critical of Texas Governor Greg Abbott sending illegals to “sanctuary cities.”
Adams says this situation is different, insinuating that Abbott coerced people to get on buses headed north.
A statement from the mayor’s office explained, “We are not coercing people to leave, we are not suggesting or recommending locations, we are not chartering buses, and we are not presenting any kind of false choice. Asylum seekers are only being reticketed on public transportation.”
“We are not telling anyone to go to any country or state,” he said. “We speak with people and they say their desire is to go somewhere else. So, there’s no coordinated effort.”
It’s poetic justice for the virtue-signaling, holier-than-thou politicians in this country. Mayors like Adams and Lightfoot and Governors like Newsom, love to tell everyone how inclusive they are until the problem is at their own front door.
Only when they see firsthand how overwhelming the influx of illegal migrants is on the city and state resources do they begin to understand.
The border cities and towns have been dealing with all that’s associated with an open border for years. The number of people coming into the country is only the tip of the iceberg.
Drugs, child sex trafficking, deaths, destruction of property, crime, and more are all a result of a non-existent immigration policy.
As Ronald Reagan once said, “A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation.”
