There are a few simple rules when handling every firearm. Treat every gun like its loaded. Never point a weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot. It doesn’t matter what type of weapon it is either. Treat every gun the same way, from a Glock .40 handgun to a NERF Blaster.

Yes, a NERF Blaster. If you teach kids the rules for a firearm at a young age, they will treat firearms with respect for the rest of their lives. Firearms are dangerous. There is no disputing that. But the people using the firearms are more dangerous, especially if they don’t know how to handle them.

Alec Baldwin didn’t follow those rules on the set of the movie Rust back in October of 2021 when the gun he was using accidentally discharged. The bullet hit Halyna Hutchins. The 42-year-old Hutchins director of photography died. Joel Souza, the director, was wounded.

The subsequent investigation by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s office has indicated it was a tragic accident. There are rules to handling firearms on movie and television sets even though the weapons used are prop guns. There is confusion on whether or not those rules were followed.

Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza told the Today show, “I don’t think anybody’s off the hook when it comes to criminal charges. I’ve said this before: I think there was complacency on the set.”

Law enforcement officers around the country will tell everyone, complacency gets you killed. It leads to officers disregarding their training and experience. It looks like the movie set had the same issue.

“There was disorganization and a degree of negligence — whether that rises to a criminal level, that will be up to the district attorney,” Mendoza said during the interview.

Baldwin, who is famously anti-gun, has denied responsibility. He has blamed everyone else but himself. Hilaria Baldwin, his wife, has now taken to social media accusing enemies of attacking her husband.

I don’t think anyone criticizes Hilaria for defending her husband. She is supposed to. For better or worse right? However, it is just another example of how detached the Hollywood elite is from the rest of society. There is no remorse and no mention of Ms. Hutchins at all.

The entire post makes Alec out to be the victim here. Poor Alec Baldwin. He shot and killed someone on the set of a movie and he is the victim. Not Ms. Hutchins.

The post comes on the heels of a threat Baldwin made to some stranger on Twitter. The 64-year-old actor attacked President Trump on Twitter after hearing Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony about Trump attacking a Secret Service Agent on January 6th.

The testimony of the former Trump aide has some serious holes in her statement. The agent Trump was alleged to have attacked denies the incident. Baldwin ignored facts and went after Trump on the social media outlet.

His tweet got a lot of responses including one from a guy named Mike Williams.

According to Newsweek, William’s tweet caught Baldwin’s attention. In a since-deleted reply, the actor told Mr. Williams, “When I am eventually not charged with any crime, I’ll come find you so you can apologize.” Baldwin added: “I’ll find you Mike.”

Perhaps, Alec Baldwin should have spent more time understanding the safety rules of firearms than preaching about how bad they are. Simple rules. Every gun is loaded and never point a weapon at something you don’t intend to shoot. Real gun, prop gun, toy gun. Treat them the same.
