Elise Stefanik, House Republican Conference Chairwoman is furious as to why Nancy Pelosi is “off limits”.
She is questioning Rep. Bennie Johnson and why he is keeping Pelosi away from the scrutiny of the events that led up to the breach of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Stefanik told Fox News; “You have only one office that’s off-limits to investigation and that office is Nancy Pelosi’s office. Bennie Thompson said at the start of this witch hunt that everything is fair game except for the speaker of the House’s office.”
“[W]e know that the speaker’s office was made aware of potential threats, potential violence that day. They failed to do their job to ensure the Capitol Police had the support they needed to secure the Capitol. And they have not turned over the communication with the sergeant-at-arms’s office.”
Nancy Pelosi is facing questions because of claims that she rejected the National Guard’s presence ahead of a Donald Trump rally on Jan. 6. According to Chief Steven Sund, former U.S. Capitol Police, he asked that the National Guard be brought in to make sure everything went well. Sund claims that his request was rejected, and was told they had concerns over the “optics” of deploying Guard personnel in the city.
His requests were denied or postponed six times.
Stefanik said, “The American people deserve to have that information.”
She added that the Jan. 6 committee is “a waste of taxpayer dollars.”
“It’s not dealing with the crises that are actually impacting and hurting the American people resulting from Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi’s failed policies.”
She also said that the committee “is not about seeking truth.”
“It is a smear campaign against President Donald Trump, against Republican members of Congress, and against Trump voters across this country.”

Stefanik was quoted saying she’s working closely with President Trump and his team along with house Republicans to set the record straight and prove the panel’s illegitimacy.
“I’m going to stand up for my constituents in the American people, continue to speak the truth, and work with all of the house Republicans, with Kevin McCarthy to Jim Jordan, to make sure that the facts are out there for the American people to know,” she stated. “And expose what expose Nancy Pelosi does not want the American people to know. Pelosi’s office is the only one off-limits that she bears responsibility for the security posture.”
Come November, Republican lawmakers may launch investigations into Pelosi and others, if they take back the House.

Several rank-and-file Republicans, likely committee chairmen and members of the party leadership told CNN on Friday that the January 6 panel’s subpoenas to House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy and four other Republicans create a new standard they may ultimately choose to replicate in a potential GOP majority next Congress.
At the top of the list: Pelosi, whom Republicans say they plan to target over her communications regarding security matters in the run-up to January 6 and as the riot was unfolding in the Capitol.
