The Freedom of Information Act states that any person has the right to request federal agency records or information. Any citizen can file the required documents, and as long as they correct them, they will get the information they request.
However, there are nine exemptions to the law which include classified documents, law enforcement records, personnel files, and medical records. The law enforcement exclusions must fit an active law enforcement investigation, protection of informants, or anything related to intelligence agencies.
The law was enacted during the Johnson Administration to keep Government transparent. A functioning Democracy must be open and accountable to the people it governs. It has been successful. The law has been used many times to expose government scandals.
This week, Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act against the Secret Service. The group is looking for more information about Hunter Biden’s gun incident in Delaware several years ago.
Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit this week seeking answers from the Secret Service related to the Hunter Biden gun incident in Delaware four years ago. The issue concerns Hunter’s gun being thrown in the trash by his sister-in-law.
According to the website, Judicial Watch, Inc., is a conservative, non-partisan educational foundation, which promotes transparency, accountability, and integrity in government, politics, and the law. Its goal is the ensure the Government does not abuse its power.
The group filed a Freedom of Information Act request back in March of 2021. That is when the story began to circulate from Hunter Biden’s laptop exposing many emails, text messages, and videos about Hunter and his sordid private life.
The President’s son was in a relationship with his sister-in-law. She became angry at Hunter and took his gun throwing it in a trash can. When she returned later on to retrieve the weapon, it was gone. She called the Delaware Police Department.
The police were concerned because of the proximity of the dumpster to a local high school. It triggered an investigation due to fears the gun could be used in a crime. It should have remained an investigation handled by the police.
Yet, the result was a trip by the Secret Service to the gun store where it was purchased. They wanted to obtain the paperwork filed by Hunter to purchase the gun. The Secret Service intervened in an active criminal investigation where they should not have.
Ron Palmieri, the owner of StarQuest Shooters & Survival Supply in Delaware, reportedly refused because he was concerned they might hide Biden’s ownership of the gun. The report said he later turned over the papers to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
It appears he answered no to the question about drug use on the paperwork. Everybody has seen the photos and videos circulating from the laptop and knows Hunter Biden suffered from drug addiction. It means he lied on the form which is a crime.
The Secret Service has denied any involvement in responding to the incident, and after the agency declined to hand over any relevant records, Judicial Watch decided to force the issue into federal court this week.
“The Secret Service and the Biden administration apparently are in cover-up mode for Hunter Biden. Whether its Hunter Biden’s laptop, his business practices and travel, or these documents related to the careless disposal of a gun in a dumpster near a high school,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said.
Of course, the President denies any knowledge of the Secret Service’s involvement. If Judicial Watch wins its lawsuit, we will see how protected Hunter is.
