WASHINGTON DC – As Joe Biden undergoes a colonoscopy, his presidential powers will be ‘temporarily shifted’ to Kamala Harris according to the White House.
“As was the case when President George W. Bush had the same procedure in 2002 and 2007, and following the process set out in the Constitution, President Biden will transfer power to the Vice President for the brief period of time when he is under anaesthesia. The Vice President will work from her office in the West Wing during this time” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement on Friday morning.
Biden will undergo a routine physical exam on Saturday. The White House is set to publicly share an official statement later today on Friday afternoon. He will also turn 79 this week and will officially be the oldest president to take office in the history of the United States.
Biden’s motorcade arrived at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center today at 9 a.m. ET.
Harris’ temporary presidential powers will come after several reports that her team is upset and frustrated with her role in the Biden administration.
“Many current and former West Wing aides say that Vice President Kamala Harris is not being adequately prepared or positioned, and instead is being sidelined, causing frustration among staffers,” according to a recent CNN report.
According to another report on Thursday, Kamal Harris’ communication director resigned just this week as “the VP takes a nosedive in approval polling and rumors swirl about an apparent rift with President Joe Biden” The White House confirmed this report with a statement “she is a valued member of the vice president’s team, who has worked tirelessly to advance the goals of this administration”
A recent poll delivered shocking results for the Biden administration showing Joe Biden’s approval rating just at 36% which makes it an all-time low and similar results for Kamala. Both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ approval ratings are barely hitting the 50% mark in other similar polls.
