Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney called in Hollywood to Dave her failing effort to keep her seat. Kevin Costner posted about his support for Cheney on Twitter.

The Yellowstone actor wore a shirt that said, “I’m for Liz Cheney” and Cheney captioned it “Real men put country over party.”

Costner has a history of supporting mostly Democrat candidates. Liz Cheney has been historically very conservative but recently lost favor with many Republicans after she did not support Trump in his accusations of a stolen election.

Costner said in 2020, “I vote for who I think has the best interests of the country and how we sit in the world. The Democratic Party doesn’t represent everything that I think, and neither does the Republican Party right now — at all. So, I find it too limiting.”

Rep. Lauren Boebert had something to say about all this.

She posted on Twitter, “How did Kevin Costner go from Dancing with Wolves to slumming with RINOs?”

CNN’s Randi Kaye did a segment asking Wyoming voters about the primary race, and most voters denounced Cheney.

Kaye said: “At Frontier Days in Cheyenne, Wyoming, we found plenty of Republican voters bucking the Cheney name, and vowing not to support Congresswoman Liz Cheney for a fourth term.”

“Are you planning to vote for Liz Cheney?” Kaye asked voter Sharon Tuggle who said, “Hell no, she’s done us dirty. Look at how she’s done Trump. She is supposed to be supporting him. She is a Republican for crying out loud.”

Kaye asked other Wyoming voters in the segment.

“Absolutely not,” said voter Andrew Kahler.

“Personally, I think she’s had three too many,” said another voter.

“I find her work on the Jan. 6 committee just repulsive,” said another voter.

“It’s all a hoax. It’s all propaganda,” said Kahler. “Has nothing to do with anything. It’s a witch hunt.”

Cheney is polling far behind Trump-backed candidate, Harriet Hageman.

Polls keep finding Cheney trailing behind Hageman. A survey by the Casper Star-Tribune from July 7 to 11 found Hageman leading Cheney by 22 points. Hageman held 52% of the support, while Cheney only brought in 30% of the support.

Cheney is not backing down from her stance on January 6.

During a debate on June 30, Hageman criticized the Jan. 6 committee and said they’re not focusing on the issues that are important to the people in Wyoming.”

CBS News reported:

In response to the new Cheney ad, Hageman campaign adviser and former Trump campaign spokesperson Tim Murtaugh said, “Wyoming is fed up with Liz Cheney and no amount of television ads funded by Democrats from California will ever change that.”

The three-term congresswoman is facing her toughest re-election yet. A recent independent poll by the Casper Star-Tribune had Hageman leading by 22 points, a similar margin to other internal polls by Hageman and allies

GOP activists back in Wyoming have also turned on the historically conservative congresswoman, and the state’s Republican central committee narrowly voted to no longer recognize her as a Republican in November 2021

Wyoming voters will decide if Cheney or Hageman wins on August 16.
