Texas Governor Greg Abbott said that the state will continue to send buses of migrants to northern cities “until the Biden administration does its job to enforce the laws concerning the border.”

He said that Texas is “looking at other cities to send them to.”

Abbott recently sent buses of migrants to Washington D.C. in an attempt to shed light on the border crisis happening in Texas.

Abbott spoke on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” and said:

[W]e have more buses headed their way as we speak right now. But, Sean, this just shows the hypocrisy of these liberal leaders up in the northeast who think, well, that border crisis created by Joe Biden, that’s fine as long as it’s Texas that has to deal with it, but as soon as they have to deal with the real consequences of Biden’s border…crisis, they’re up in arms calling for the National Guard, as you point out, dealing with just a tiny fraction of what we have to deal with every single day. We’re going to keep sending those buses up there until they fully understand and most importantly, Sean, until the Biden administration does its job to enforce the laws concerning the border.

He added, “We are helping out these small local communities by sending even more buses to these communities and putting these new migrants on the buses and sending them to Washington, DC. And we’re looking at other cities to send them to.”

In an August 1 press release, Abbott invited the mayors of NYC and D.. to come and visit the Texas border in a letter.

The press release said:

“As law enforcement agents along the Texas-Mexico border respond to thousands of illegal crossings each and every day, putting their lives on the line for Texans and for all Americans, the crisis demands the attention of not only the Biden Administration, which is responsible for securing the border, but of leaders across the country,” reads the letter. “As Governor, I invite you to visit our border region to see firsthand the dire situation that only grows more urgent with each passing day, and to meet with the local officials, who like yourselves, realize this matter deserves immediate federal action.”

Texas has bused thousands of migrants to Washington, D.C. who would have otherwise been released into small border communities with more limited resources than the nation’s capital. Last month, Governor Abbott responded to New York City Mayor Adams’ false accusations attacking the mission by calling on the mayor to direct his complaints to President Biden for refusing to secure the southern border.

Abbot began busing migrants in April of 2022 after the Biden administration said they were lifting the pandemic-era immigration policy that allowed authorities to turn away migrants.

All the busing is voluntary but is a desperate attempt to bring attention to the Biden administration on the border crisis.
