According to reports, a part of the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago was locked down after a woman was noticed entering the building carrying a rifle.
Earlier this Wednesday at around 11:30 a.m., an armed, anonymous woman was seen entering the hotel building right along the River of Chicago.
The reports suggested that the incident could be linked with a domestic dispute case, and also, the woman reportedly stated that she “was tired of being abused by her husband.”
As the hotel offers daily basis stays and permanent apartments, there is quite a chance that the woman might be a resident of the building.
The SWAt team instantly reached the building and ran towards an apartment on the 27th floor, where the woman was seen heading.
However, no gunfire has been reported. The Chicago police force said there was no threat to the public.
The case was tagged as “domestic” by nature, as it was believed that there are no connections to terrorism in it.
Despite the confidence shown by the police about the containment of the incident, some parts of the hotel building are under temporary lockdown.
A resident from the building, Steve, informed WBBM that he had been stopped from entering the building after he left and went out of it for a moment.
Steve explained:
“I was just doing some housework, and some cooking, and I decided to take some air. I came down to the lobby, and I was quickly escorted away from the lobby, out of the building, and was told not to come back until it was clear.”
He added:
“I asked several times what was going on, and they wouldn’t acknowledge.”
