Breaking News: Renowned Actress Patti Lupone Labels Christian Republicans As Taliban During Her Appearance On “The View”

Earlier this week on Tuesday, the C-list actress and singer, Patti Lupone, appeared on ABC’s “The View” to converse over a few topics that included her stance that the “Christian right” is very similar to the Taliban, her new Marvel TV gig, and much more.

She made the absurd accusations during a part of the show while talking about abortions in the United States and top GOP lawmakers like Gov. Ron DeSantis making efforts to protect life in red states.

DeSantis recently signed a state legislature’s Heartbeat Protection Act, which would impose a ban on child murder after a fetus’ heartbeat is detectable.

In response to this act Lupone stated:

“I could cry… I don’t know why he’s doing this.”

Lupone added:

“I’ve said this before, and I’m going to get in trouble, but I’ve said this before and it’s been in print … I have no idea what the difference between our [America’s] Christian right and the Taliban is. I just don’t know what the difference is.”

Host Whoopi Goldberg responded:

“You’re not the only person who has said that.”

Lupone repeated:

“I don’t – I – I – just don’t know what the difference is. What’s happening in the country now in the name of religion is dangerous.”

Lupone then compared the recent America to the one she grew up in as she criticized the current situation in the country.

Lupone continued:

“It’s not this country. It’s not America. When I was growing up, I didn’t know America was an experiment. They never said America was an experiment when we were growing up. It was a democracy. And now it’s in such danger. It’s so upsetting. It’s upsetting to hear the loudest voices and not any kind of pushback to the loudest voices that are the extremity in this country.”

Co-host Sunny Hostin then replied to Lupone; “that’s why we need people like you.”
