A suspicious activity report is called a SAR. It is filed by banks when they suspect there are violations of Anti-Money Laundering laws. The transactions made by account holders get flagged for questionable activity.
If enough SARs get opened, accounts get closed, the details get sent to the Treasury Department. It is a common practice throughout the financial world. Each institution dealing with transactions must, by federal law, adhere to the AML rules.
For years, Hunter Biden’s financial transactions have come under scrutiny by numerous financial institutions resulting in numerous SARS. Now, Republicans are demanding records and communications dating back to the Obama Administration.
Republican Senator James Comer of Kentucky, the highest ranking Republican member of the House Oversight Committee wants answers. The Senator recently sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen requesting information.
The New York Post reported the letter indicated the Biden administration may be preventing the release of suspicious activity reports related to Hunter Biden.
“The Biden Administration is restricting Congress’ access to SARs, and Committee Republicans are investigating whether this change in longstanding policy is motivated by efforts to shield Hunter Biden and potentially President Biden from scrutiny,” Comer wrote in the letter to Yellen.
Comer’s letter is not the only one sent to Yellen. The Secretary already had demands on her hands from Republicans claiming Hunter’s suspicious activity reports have were covered up dating back to the White House during President Obama’s administration.
Hunter Biden’s Burisma connections through Obama’s term are all known. The energy company in Ukraine is linked to numerous money laundering violations. The only address that can be found for the company is in Cyprus.
Cyprus infamous for old Soviet crime bosses and business men to launder money. It has business-friendly tax laws, access to the European Union, and barely any money laundering laws. It is much like America’s use of the Cayman Islands.
There hasn’t been much focus on the relationship Hunter has with China. The Obama administration assigned Joe Biden the task of developing America’s relationship with China.
According to spectator.com, it appears then-Vice President Biden leveraged his time as head of the China file to allow his son, Hunter, to build strong business ties in China. In particular, Chinese military contractor AVIC.
