Former President Donald J Trump on Monday announced that he is suing the New York Attorney General Letitia James for targeting a witch hunt against his family’s real estate company.
The lawsuit was filed in the Albany federal court. This suit claims that James’ two-year-long investigation into the Trump Organization is “politically motivated”
President Trump’s legal team claims that investigations “are in no way connected to legitimate law enforcement goals, but rather, are merely a thinly-veiled effort to publicly malign Trump and his associates.
“Her mission is guided solely by political animus and a desire to harass, intimidate, and retaliate against a private citizen who she views as a political opponent,” the lawsuit adds.
James, who had previously announced a gubernatorial campaign, recently announced that she would subpoena the former president to answer questions under oath on January 7th, 2022. On the same day of this announcement, she suspended her gubernatorial campaign and announced that she would run for a second-term state attorney general.
“This is not about delay, this is about our Constitution! You are nothing but a corrupt official doing the dirty work of your party. You should not be in office. This could well be the reason you were just rejected by the people of NY in your inept run for governor,” President Trump said.
“You didn’t quit for a higher purpose, you quit because your poll numbers were atrocious—you didn’t have a chance. New York got lucky!” He added.
“Tell Letitia that she is not dealing with the Cuomo brothers, a corrupt Governor in a corrupt state, including your office and others, and Fredo, who did the governor’s dirty work for him,” he continued.
Despite the two-year-long investigation into the Trump Organization, James has found nothing significant. President Trump weighed in on this and said, “just a continuation of the political Witch Hunt that has gone on against me by the Radical Left Democrats for years.”
