Project Veritas released video evidence showing high-level staffers in Republican U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski’s office stating the Alaskan Senator was a closeted supporter of Ranked Choice Voting (RCV).

The state of Alaska approved RCV in 2020, which will be utilized in this election cycle, and will most likely help pro-Trump impeachment Senator Murkowski’s re-reaction chances.

RCV is an electoral system in which voters rank candidates by preference on their ballots. If a candidate wins a majority of first-preference votes, they are declared the winner.

Ballotpedia shared how it works:

Broadly speaking, the ranked-choice voting process unfolds as follows for single-winner elections:

  1. Voters rank the candidates for a given office by preference on their ballots.
  2. If a candidate wins an outright majority of first-preference votes (i.e., 50 percent plus one), he or she will be declared the winner.
  3. If, on the other hand, no candidates win an outright majority of first-preference votes, the candidate with the fewest first-preference votes is eliminated.
  4. All first-preference votes for the failed candidate are eliminated, lifting the second-preference choices indicated on those ballots.
  5. A new tally is conducted to determine whether any candidate has won an outright majority of the adjusted voters.
  6. The process is repeated until a candidate wins a majority of the votes cast.

Project Veritas exposed Murkowski’s campaign staff discussing how ranked-choice voting will secure her a victory and how it was pushed through the state legislature in 2020 to make certain she wins.

The campaign coordinator Emma Ashblock explained, “They say the race is gonna come down to Kelly Tshibaka and Senator Murkowski. So, anyone who votes for Pat Chesbro first and ranks Senator Murkowski second that vote is gonna become a vote for Senator Murkowski.”

Ashlock added that RCV advocates pushed this voting protocol to help moderates like Murkowski get re-elected.

“While we were working on Ballot Measure 2 and voting for Ballot Measure 2, we had Senator Murkowski in mind the whole time.”

Josh Nash, Murkowski’s Campaign Interior Coordinator, confirmed that Murkowski purposefully “stayed quiet” about her support of the RCV measures.

Nash said that they are trying to get Murkowski elected amongst more moderate voters.

A staffer explained how RCV was created to help Murkowski, who is facing a Trump-backed opponent:

Ashlock bounced back Nash’s point, adding; “every single Pat Chesbro voter who ranks Senator Murkowski second, we get their votes. If we can get people to do that, then we have it in the bag.”

Murkoski and her GOP rival, Kelly Tshibaka, both advanced in the Alaskan U.S. Senate primary, as well as Sarah Palin for the only House seat.
