Impeachment is a process in the House of Representatives that makes up the first major step required to remove a government official from office. The Constitution gives the sole power of the impeachment to the House of Representatives. The Senate becomes the courtroom for impeachment trials
The majority of people, when they hear the word impeachment, it is to remove the President of the United States from his position. It is true but it can include a lot of different Government officials. It is just that the President is the most famous position impeachment is for.
The House of Representatives has utilized the impeachment process more than sixty times. Less than one-third of these times have been successful. The only type of officials removed from office during these proceedings is Judges
Three Presidents got impeached, Andrew Johnson, Bill Clinton, and Donal Trump. Neither of these impeachment proceedings was successful. They all failed.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Green, from Georgia, has become a controversial member of Congress since being elected in 2020 and sworn in in 2021. MTG, as she is known, is now setting her sights on Attorney General Merrick Garland.
She announced that she filed articles of impeachment against Attorney General Merrick Garland a day after the Justice Department’s top official announced he personally approved the FBI raid on the Florida home of former President Donald Trump.
In the early morning of Monday, August 8th, agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant at President Trump’s Mar a Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida. It was an unprecedented action by the United States Justice Department and the FBI.
“Merrick Garland has weaponized the DOJ and unleashed the FBI to target, harass, and persecute Joe Biden’s political enemies,” Mrs. Greene said. “The unprecedented raid on President Trump’s home is the type of tyrannical action that happens just before a country falls into a violent dictatorship.”
What’s interesting about MTG’s statement is the FBI persecuting Biden’s political enemies. A police force that goes after political enemies has always been called the secret police. Many examples exist out there of the secret police. The most famous were Hitler’s SS, the Russian KGB, and the East German Stasi.
Is the FBI and the United States Department of Justice becoming like a ruthless regime’s secret police? It sure seems that way. There is no equal justice for both sides of the political spectrum. If you are an opponent of the Democrat party, sooner or later, they’re coming for you.
Officially, MTG is charging Garland with politicizing the Justice Department, and the other claims the attorney general has failed to uphold his oath of office and lost the trust of U.S. citizens to “execute the laws of the United States without partisan bias.”
The Democrats control Congress right now. Her articles of impeachment will go nowhere because of that. They will fade away. Representative Green knows that. This isn’t about now though. It’s a warning shot to the Democrats about the upcoming mid-term elections.
Republicans are expected to roll over the Democrats in the coming November elections. If that does indeed happen, Green is signaling to Garland and his politicized FBI and DOJ to get ready for what is coming.
Impeachment of Garland will happen. The new Congress is definitely going to file articles of impeachment against the Attorney General. However, what will most likely occur in that case is, he resigns.
Garland won’t be the only casualty if the Republicans win back control of Congress and eventually the Presidency. The FBI, which has become what Congress didn’t want it to become, will suffer the wrath of the people they have been targeting. The existence of the FBI as an official agency may soon end.
