GOP Senator from Texas, Ted Cruz blasted President Biden’s candidate for the new head of the Federal Aviation Administration, stating that he is not capable of this post.
In a Senate Commerce Committee confirmation trial, Cruz forced the mandatory eligibility criteria for a new FAA leader to have at least “decades of experience in aviation.”
Cruz notified that Biden’s candidate for the leading post of FAA, Phil Washington, lacks the experience required to handle this position.
Cruz stated:
“The nominee before us, Phil Washington, had a long and honorable career in the military. But he does not have any experience in aviation safety. This, quite simply, is a position he is not qualified for.”
According to a report by Fox Business:
“Washington is currently the CEO of Denver International Airport (DIA). He was first nominated by Biden last year, but he failed to advance amid concerns from Republicans about his experience. His confirmation has been further stalled by allegations of discriminatory and retaliatory practices by Washington at DIA and his involvement with a corruption investigation at LA Metro. Washington was CEO at LA Metro, which is being investigated after it awarded a pricey contract for a sexual harassment hotline – the hotline was found to cost over $8,000 per call it received – that was awarded to a charity run by a close friend of an LA Metro board member. Washington has denied wrongdoing, but Cruz has called on the Senate to proceed slowly with his nomination in light of these allegations and other whistleblower claims of misconduct.”
In his respond, Cruz disclosed:
“It gives no comfort to the flying public that their pilot might be a transgendered witch but doesn’t actually know how to prevent the plane from crashing into the ground and killing them.”
Cruz blamed Biden and his management of “playing politics with the flying public’s safety” by bringing forward Washington for this leading role.
Cruz also claimed that the former management of city transit agencies under Washington were full of “mismanagement and wasteful spending.”
He also mentioned a news report according to which Washington tried to emplace a sauna in the LA Metro’s employee gym, worth $200,000. He also mentioned Washington’s “lavish spending” as the city buses “broke down and caught fire due to lack of money.”
