Of the numerous failings that are pervading President Biden and his administration, there likely isn’t one that has been more commented upon than Biden calamitous failing at the border in his inability to secure it.
This has certainly been noticed and a number of prominent Republicans have had enough and are effectively taking the matter into their own hands. That was exactly what the Lieutenant Governor of Texas, Dan Patrick said he was going to do during a Saturday taping of the popular show “Fox and Friends”.
According to the DC Enquirer, it is now being reported that:
TX Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick (R-TX) stated Saturday on “Fox & Friends Weekend” that that state will “keep those buses coming” as long as the southern border remains unsecured.
“I’m serious about this. The legislators are serious about this. The people of Texas are serious about it,” Patrick began. “The other thing I’d want to do, we’re spending, by the way, to put this in perspective to all these whiny babies up in these blue states, ‘Oh, this is such a crisis.’ We normally spend $400 million a year on border security.”
“We’re spending over $4 billion of Texas taxpayer money, money we could spend on health care, on education, on more roads, whatever it might be, $4 billion a year.
We have our National Guard there on the border,” the Texan explained, adding, “This is a financial burden on us. But most importantly, it’s an invasion of our state.”
The DC Enquirer went on to further report that:
State and local officials across the Lone Star State have begun to use the language of invasion in an effort to not only call it what it is, but also set the legal foundations for additional action by law enforcement to secure the border, per the Texas Tribune.
Just this past week, two more Texas counties, Wharton and Burnet counties, called for “additional measures to secure the border, stop the invasion at the border, and protect our communities.” They join 27 other Texas counties that have released similar resolutions, according to The Center Square.
Texas itself has spent billions of dollars attempting to fill the void left by the Biden administration via Operation Lone Star which utilized state national guard troops to patrol the Rio Grande.
Fox News went on to report that:
“I’ve said it for a long time, I’m not shy about the word. But we have to do this the right way.
But I will also propose that since we’re spending so much money, I’d like to hire every Border Patrol agent on the border,” adding, “Every one of them. There’s about 8,000.”
We can afford to do it, hire them and make a new state border guard so that Joe Biden doesn’t have one person left. And by the way, the Border Patrol agents are heroes in my book.
They hate working for this guy. I think they love working for Texas…
So, the problem of illegal immigration and the various responses to it have been the cause of much debate. Ron DeSantis (R) says he will deny state contracts to companies aiding President Joe Biden’s administration with its expansive Catch and Release operation that is releasing hundreds of thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens into the United States interior.
