With the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks looming on the horizon, former President Donald Trump had some scathing words for Joe Biden regarding his methods of handling the Afghanistan debacle.
In an exclusive interview on “Rob Schmitt Tonight“, Trump stated that 9/11 “…was a day like no other day”.
As TrendingPolitics.com reports, “That’s why we have to be careful. That’s why we rebuilt our military. Unfortunately, they gave some of what I had rebuilt – we built it – they gave it to the Taliban. Can you believe that?” Trump added. Not only did Biden botch the military withdrawal from the country’s longest war by leaving unconditionally, but he has empowered and emboldened America’s enemies in the process.”
“Brand new Apache, the most incredible weapon you’ve ever seen, the Apache helicopters, brand new – brand new out of the box, as they say – and they got ’em,” said Trump, referring to the bounty of U.S.-supplied weapons and aircraft left to the Taliban who took over the country easily after Afghan National Army and security forces refused to oppose them.
“And they’re giving them to China, and they’re giving them to Russia, and Iran, and they’re studying them because they want to make them just like that,” Trump added.
TrendingPolitics.com went on to report that
In the wide-ranging interview, the former president ripped Biden for what he described as a failed execution of a withdrawal without first ensuring that all American citizens and Afghani allies were first evacuated, and for leaving behind sophisticated weapons and other materiel.
“Look at what’s happened to our country in the past eight months,” Trump said. “I don’t think our country has ever seen a period like this, how badly we’re doing.
“The worst of all is what took place in Afghanistan. That withdrawal was the most incompetently handled withdrawal, or anything else, in the history of our country,” he continued.
“We’re embarrassed in front of the world. Giving them $850 billion of the best military equipment in the world, there’s never been a greater embarrassment than we’ve suffered this last week,” Trump said.
Schmitt went on to ask the former president about Biden’s initial attempts to blame the Trump administration for withdrawal problems. Trump, plain and simply, wasn’t having it and repeated an oft-used talking in this debate. That the Taliban wouldn’t be doing what they were doing if he was still in charge.
“You just take a look at the last few months, that’s when the whole thing fell down,” Trump said. “I was not there. And it all fell down.
“Can you imagine getting the military out, before you get your citizens, American people out?” Trump continued. “They took the military out first. We would have taken it out last.
“And, by the way, they didn’t meet the conditions. And every time they didn’t meet the conditions, we bombed them.”
