Thomas Jefferson pulled off one of the greatest feats in American History in 1803 when he suckered Napoleon out of a large portion of what would become the United States. Of course, the French leader was involved in a war with England at the time and he needed cash.
Many people know the Louisiana Purchase included Louisiana and the Mississippi River basin. Included in the three cents an acre purchase was the Dakotas as well. Yes, the deal swindled the French out of almost one-third of our nation.
Now, North Dakota is involved in another purchase with a foreign nation. Only this time, China is buying up the land in the Peace Garden State. They are buying hundreds of acres of fertile farmland throughout Rough Rider Country, land close to American military bases.
Bill Gates is the largest land owner in the United States. He owns roughly 270,000 acres around the nation. We also know the Microsoft tycoon has close ties with the Communist Party of China and is pushing his climate alarmism through the need for synthetic beef.
The land purchases by China and Gates have Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas and Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama concerned. On August 2nd, the two members of the Senate introduced a bill that would address this issue.
They introduced the Securing America’s Land from Foreign Interference Act to prohibit members of the Chinese Communist Party from purchasing any land in the United States. Along with Cotton and Tuberville, the North Dakota Attorney General is questioning Gates’ land purchases as well.
FuFeng Group, a Xanthan gum producer which is a flavor additive, purchased over 300 acres just 20 minutes from Grand Forks Air Force Base. The plan is to open their first production facility here in the United States.
The nearby Air Force base is home to“the backbone of all U.S. military communications across the globe,” a North Dakota Senator said. It houses the space networking center and top secret drone technology.
Senator Cotton says, “Chinese investments in American farmland put our food security at risk and provide opportunities for Chinese espionage against our military bases and critical infrastructure.
Instead of allowing these purchases, the U.S. government must bar the Communist Party from purchasing our land,” said Cotton. One has to wonder why they are purchasing this land right next to an American Air Force Base.
The Chinese are saying that recently passed tax breaks in the State of North Dakota attracted them to the area. The company purchased the land from a private land owner for around $2.6 million earlier this year. The community has expressed their anger towards the seller since.
Unfortunately, the American farmer is growing old. The people who run the industry are considered an aging population and the younger generation doesn’t work in the fields as much anymore. The younger farmers want to start community gardens outside their gentrified apartments in an urban dump.
As the farmers age out with no replacement, foreign food manufacturers will swoop in and start buying more and more land. Thomas Jefferson’s ingenious con to swindle the French out of some of the most fertile land on Earth will just be given over to our competitors now.
