During an appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” renowned radio host Charlamagne tha God—known for his candid opinions—shared harsh words about President Joe Biden’s leadership, calling him a “uninspiring candidate” with “no main character energy at all.” Charlamagne also expressed what many Americans feel is a lack of enthusiasm for the upcoming election, especially in light of the possibility of a rematch between Biden and former President Donald Trump.
Charlamagne, whose viewership he believes to be representative of the United States, highlighted the lack of enthusiasm behind Biden’s candidacy and recommended that the President rely on more magnetic individuals such as Vice President Kamala Harris or other significant surrogates.
“He’s just an uninspiring candidate. There’s nothing about Joe Biden that makes you want to listen to him,” quips Charlamagne Tha God.
He emphasized how Biden should rely on Harris’s charm and how a vibrant staff is necessary to keep his campaign going strong.
“And I always say this about him: Donald Trump seems more sincere about his lies than Joe Biden does about his truth,” Charlamagne said.
“But when you have a candidate like President Biden who the polls are saying had the lowest approval rating ever…that’s scary,” Charlamagne said. “That’s where these conversations are coming from [among Democrats], where they’re like, you might need to step aside and put somebody else in there.”
Charlamagne has criticized both Biden and Trump, calling Biden a “shitty elected official.” Charlamagne has been supporting Biden in the 2020 election, but his supporters, who are disappointed with the administration’s performance, are scrutinizing him.
During an interview with CNN NewsNight, Charlamagne talked about his support for Biden and acknowledged the dissatisfaction of his viewers. He did not say if he would back Biden again in 2024
His latest remarks come after he announced in an interview with Politico that he would not be endorsing Biden and Harris in the next election due to their lackluster showing and what he saw to be Harris’s retreat from the public eye after taking office.
Charlamagne intensified his criticism on Biden during a guest hosting appearance on The Daily Show, calling on him to withdraw to make room for a new contender in the 2024 election. He was worried about Biden’s advancing years and waning appeal, so he stressed the necessity for a novel strategy to beat Trump, comparing it to a bar fight in which he wouldn’t trust Biden to break things up.
Charlamagne’s vocal critique is indicative of a larger feeling of disenchantment that some Americans have with the existing government as well as fear around the possibility of a Trump comeback. His comments add to the current conversation on the issues facing the country in the next election cycle and the future of American leadership as the political landscape changes.
