House Minority Leader Jakeem Jeffries convened a group conference among his party mates in the House of Representatives to share the panic created by Joe Biden during his recent fatal flop debate with Trump.
The meeting was billed as a “listening session” to hear inputs from members of the Party, according to a report by the New York Times, emphasizing the rising concerns among top democrats on Biden’s reelection bid.
According to Rep. Smith, a ranking member of the Armed Service Committee, it’s time for Biden to go, as reported by two sources familiar with the call. Four other Congressmen echoed the call.
A report from the Washington Post quipped, “Lieu was the highest-ranking person in the House Democratic leadership to support pressing for Biden to not seek reelection.”
Another media outlet highlighted the widening cracks of Biden’s “wall of support,” adding that about ten members of House Democrats publicly or privately expressed that Biden should exit the race. Among them were “top Democrats on the Judiciary, Armed Services and Intelligence committees.”
Meanwhile, at least five lawmakers publicly demand Biden to withdraw from the competition: Reps. Lloyd Doggett, Seth Moulton, Raúl Grijalva, Angie Craig and Mike Quigley.
Another source remarked that many lawmakers were concerned that the left would lose the chance at the House majority if Biden continued to run for election, while many acknowledged that Vice President Kamala Harris should take over.
“It was pretty brutal,” one senior Democratic aide said referring to the listening session.
