One Democrat strategist did not mince his words when he blasted Joe Biden’s refusal to heed veteran party insiders.
Doug Schoen, a former adviser to Bill Clinton, warned Biden that his unwillingness to work with longtime party strategists could affect his reelection bid.
“The White House is uniquely tone deaf and not listening to not only me but two other Democratic insiders who’ve been in past campaigns, who’ve been successful with the Obama administration, the Clinton administration,” Schoen quipped during an appearance on Fox News.
“There’s a near-total freeze out on outside advice to the detriment of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”
“I don’t think [the Biden campaign] has a clear theory of the case or strategy. They have no message on inflation. They have no message on the southern border. All that they appear to do is demonize Donald Trump and talk about their statistical record of accomplishments. And everything I see in my polls and every other poll says it just isn’t working,” the former strategist continued.
Biden consistently fails even among his supporters. According to a recent Emerson poll, the president’s approval rating has plummeted to an abysmal rating, especially among voters under 30 with only 26 percent, Blacks at 55 percent, and Hispanics at 33 percent.
The latest Reuters-Ipsos tracking poll shows that only 36 percent of Americans approve of Biden’s work, the lowest since he came into office.
Voters are also becoming more and more friendly to Donald Trump, where the former president received 45 percent approval from voters who are under 30, a shift from the 2020 results when Biden had most of the vote.
The most recent CNN poll also showed a significant drop in Biden’s support, from 81 percent in 2020 to 69 percent.
The main reason these traditionally left-leaning groups shifted their support on Biden was the economy, the same reason that has plagued his entire presidency.
Even David Axelrod, Barack ‘Husein’ Obama’s adviser, blasted Biden for his failed economic messaging and highlighted that the president could be more empathic to those not experiencing his so-called economic growth.
Axelrod pressed that it was a “terrible mistake” for the 81-year-old leader to be insensitive to what was right in front of him.
“That’s not the way people are experiencing the economy,” Axelrod said on CNN. “They are experiencing it through the lens of the cost of living. He is a man who’s built his career on empathy. Why not lead with empathy?”
Schoen echoed Axelrod.
“In an election where inflation is as high as it is and people have trouble at the pump and in the grocery paying their bills, I think this, unlike prior elections, is going to be uniquely impacted and ultimately decided by the economy,” the former Bill Clinton adviser said.
