Democratic Senator Blumenthal on Trump’s Failed Assassination: The American People Will Be Shocked, Astonished and Appalled

It’s been two months since the failed assassination attempt against President Donald Trump, yet information regarding the gunman and the plot remain scant. The media intentionally buries not only the news about the shooting but also his iconic image, calling everyone to remain defiant amidst the mayhem the Biden-Harris regime has caused.

Even former first lady Melania Trump demanded the truth and asserted that there is “more behind the story.”

On Thursday, Acting US Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe briefed leading senators from both parties regarding their investigation on Thomas Matthew Crooks’ assassination attempt against the Republican presidential nominee.

Even Democrat senators were appalled with the security lapses and blasted the Department of Homeland Services and Secret Service for their failure.

HSGAC Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI) Chairman Richard Blumenthal (D-Connecticut) remarked, “I think the American people are going to be shocked, astonished and appalled by what we will report to them about the failures by the Secret Service in this assassination attempt on the former president.”

Sen. Blumenthal declined to give more details but informed the media that the interim report will be published soon.

“But I think they also ought to be appalled and astonished by the failure of the Department of Homeland Security to be more forthcoming, to be as candid and frank as it should be to them in terms of providing information,” he added.

Members of the committee also shared their frustration with Rowe during the meeting, remarked Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin).

“There is a lot that we don’t know yet, and I think there is some frustration that was voiced, I think with Acting Director Rowe,” Johnson said during an interview.

“He’s making the commitment to provide more information.”

Homeland Security Committee Chairman Gary Peters (D-Michigan) described that the meeting provided “a lot of information” but still had a lot of “ways to go.”

“It’s going to identify very specific errors that were made in this,”  committee Ranking Member Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) also weighed.

“To me, it’s still inexcusable that a guy for 90 minutes before a rally has a rangefinder and you don’t stop the proceeding.”

Peters, Paul, Johnson, and Blumenthal upheld that the probe has been entirely bipartisan. The Wisconsin senator also expects that the interim document will be published before Congress recessed.

When asked if they thought more people should resign and the Secret Service must be held accountable, Blumenthal responded: “Unquestionably and indisputably, there needs to be more accountability. People need to be held responsible.”

“Without accountability, this kind of failure and lapse will happen again because there needs to be that sense that someone is the point person,” he said.
