Democrats have always considered the Hispanic and Latino community staunch Democrat voters. People originating from Latin America have a diverse culture because they come from many different nations.
Not long ago, both parties saw Hispanic voters as already decided. Candidates invested little time and effort in genuinely connecting with voters on the issues. Voters do not want to be taken for granted. Republicans have finally recognized this. Democrats have not.
There are so many ethnic groups within the Hispanic community it is far too broad to paint them under one color. However, they historically have been a strong block of Democratic voters. Their political affiliation tended to the progressive side.
However, that is changing and changing fast. Republicans are becoming far more nationalistic than the liberal left. It is attractive to the Latino community. The family unit has always been an important aspect of Latin America and the Democrats are rapidly drifting away from family.
MSNBC contributor Paola Ramos warned President Joe Biden and Speaker Nancy Pelosi that Latinos are “walking away from the Democratic Party” on Morning Joe today. This has the Democrat Party leadership in a panic.
Identity politics is the very foundation of the progressive left. One of those ethnic groups, which they have always believed to be the base of their party, is no longer happy with their policies and the Democrats do not know what to do except open the border.
They have opened the border to every Latin American country. That is except for Cuba. Immigrants from Cuba tend to vote Republican since President Kennedy left them stranded at the Bay of Pigs. Over a million immigrants have crossed the border and the Democrats want their votes.
Ramos went on to say, “We’re not trying to say that Republicans are winning the national Latino vote. We’re saying Democrats are losing it. The Latinos are sending a message, and we need to listen.” The statement is one of the reasons why they are losing the vote.
The Democrats assume all Hispanics and immigrants will vote for them because they are allowing them to come into the country. But, as we’ve seen this past week in Martha’s Vineyard, the Democrats don’t want the immigrants in their backyard. They don’t like them. They want to use them.
When Governor DeSantis sent a plane full of fifty immigrants to the wealthy vacation spot off the coast of Massachusetts, liberals flipped out. They claimed to care but, they had the military move in a day later and ship the immigrants off the island.
Many Hispanic families have lived here for generations. They no longer identify as immigrants but as Americans. They are religious with strong family bonds. The Catholic faith is strong amongst the Latino community. The progressive left seems to want to destroy religion and the family.
Republicans have begun loading up their party with Hispanic candidates. They have countered Alexandria Ocasio Cortez with the likes of Mayra Flores of Texas’ 34th Congressional District.
Flores appears to be a much more well-rounded politician than a casting call winner in Cortez who hates America. Flores isn’t the only Hispanic candidate. Monica De La Cruz and Cassandra Garcia also won their primaries in Texas and appear to have strong chances in November.
While the Democrats are openly concerned about Hispanic voters, they should also be concerned about African American voters. They are another ethnic group the Democrats are taking for granted and they too, have begun voting Republican more than ever before. Identity politics don’t seem to be working.
