Financial filings revealed that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) covered Joe Biden’s legal bills, worth $1.5 million, amid his mishandling of classified documents controversy.
The hypocrisy of the DNC was exposed as they continued to bombard President Donald Trump with attacks for using donations and campaign funds to support his legal fees.
In January 2023, special counsel Robert Hur investigated Biden’s handling of classified documents. Despite Biden’s millions, the DNC gladly paid for his tabs.
Axios noted that from July 2023 until February 2024, the DNC paid Bob Bauer PLLC, the company where Biden’s lead attorney Bob Bauer was associated, $1.05 million.
Additionally, these payments were allocated for his handling of Hur’s investigation and bringing in veteran lawyer David Laufman, a former DOJ official who handled Hillary Clinton’s email server and the Russian interference scandal during the 2016 election.
The report from Axios came as the Biden campaign persists in attacking the GOP presumptive nominee for using campaign funds in his legal battles.
Biden’s deputy campaign manager, Rob Flaherty, swiped Trump earlier this month and said the recent fundraiser for the former president was “a handful of billionaires figuring out how to pay his legal bills.”
Rufus Gifford, Biden’s campaign finance chair, also claimed that Biden is “not spending money on legal bills or hawking gold sneakers” and even went on to say that “every single time you give to the campaign, we’re going straight to talk to voters; with 100 offices open in swing states, hundreds of thousands of calls to voters.”
The DNC even denied that the committee used donations to pay Biden’s legal tabs.
“There is no comparison—the DNC does not spend a single penny of grassroots donors’ money on legal bills—unlike Donald Trump, who actively solicits legal fees from his supporters and has drawn down every bank account he can get his hands on, like a personal piggy bank,” remarked the DNC’s spokesman, Alex Floyd.
However, their lies backfired on them after the DNC’s FEC filings revealed that they actually paid for Biden’s legal fees.
Between April 2023 and February 2024, the committee paid about $1 million to Bob Bauer and around $800,000 to Hemenway & Barnes.
Meanwhile, the DNC is still reformulating its game plan and hasn’t responded to the article since its posting.
For the Republican National Committee, “this was only the latest example of [Democrats’] rank hypocrisy.”
“Democrats have a serious problem with PROJECTION,” Mr. Schneider added.
“If Democrats didn’t have hypocrisy, they’d have nothing at all.”
