Don Jr. to Dad: “You’re the Biggest Badass I’ve Ever Seen”

President Donald Trump exemplified what attitude the next US president must have in the face of actual attack and worse, death.

After being shot, the former president stood up, raised his fist, and summoned his supporters to continue the fight — as if it was his last message to the American people.

For his sons, Trump’s defiance was nothing but exemplary.

Don Jr., who was with his children during that time, told during a CNN interview that he had difficulty reaching his father after the incident as he tried to make sense of the events that transpired. Unfortunately for him, it took about an hour and a half.

When he finally got to talk to his father, Trump was surprisingly positive about the whole thing.

“But it was just that moment when he stood up after being shot at and just showed resolve to keep fighting for this country. That was everything for me. I just literally told him, you’re the biggest badass I know,” Don Jr. quipped.

Meanwhile, Eric Trump narrates in an interview with NBC’s Savannah Guthrie how he watched his father escape death on live television as he spent time with his children.

Eric and Don Jr. attended the Republican National Convention, which was almost rescheduled because of the assassination.

“Two days ago, I was on the couch with my children watching my father almost get assassinated on national TV,” Eric remarked.

“I saw it live … I clearly understand the sound of a bullet, and I heard the shots and my eyes went right up to the TV and I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”

He continued, “You instantly see blood, you instantly see someone on the ground, and you don’t know if they were hit multiple times, and you’re just praying to God that they stand up.”

Trump’s assassin was a 20-year-old man named Thomas Matthew Crooks. He was armed with an AR-style rifle and opened fire at the president 150 yards away from the venue.

Seeing his bloodied father being carried out, Eric shared how he was thankful to see him get up and punch his fist.

“At least we knew he was mobile at that point.”

Eric added that his father is currently going through a “bad earache.”

“Those are not fun moments,” he lamented. “This cannot happen in this country.”

“I spoke to him 45 minutes after that shooting, and he goes, ‘Nothing changes with the convention, I’m gonna be there,’” he recalled his father determined to attend the RNC just 45 minutes after the attempted assassination.

Trump initially thought of delaying his trip to Milwaukee after the attempt on his life, but announced on Sunday that  he will not “allow a ‘shooter’ or potential assassin, to force change to schedule, or anything else.”
