Former President Donald Trump has teased that he will run again for president in 2024 but has never outright confirmed a run.
At CPAC in Dallas, unsurprisingly, Trump was the clear choice to run for president in 2024 in the results of the presidential straw poll. He even beat out Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Trump had an approval rating of 99%. He was the choice of 69% of about 1,000 attendees at the conference, followed by DeSantis at 24%. Ted Cruz only garnered about 2% and many others were only at 1% or less.

In a separate poll, that excludes Trump, DeSantis was the overwhelming choice for president with 65%, followed by Donald Trump Jr with 8% and Ted Cruz with 6%.

The poll isn’t scientific, but it is a great indicator of what GOP activists and grassroots voters want.
Support for Trump changed very little from the 70% he received in the poll taken at the 2021 CPAC Dallas gathering.
Trump has commented that he was already made his decision if he will run for president or not. He just hasn’t decided if he will announce his decision before or after the midterm elections.
The CPAC poll also asked attendees who they would like to see as Trump’s running mate/ DeSantis was the top choice at 43%, followed by South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem at 9% and Pompeo at 7%.
These results are very telling. Despite Trump being banned from Twitter and scrubbed from national headlines, former president Trump still remains the overwhelming favorite to win the nomination in November, should he decide to run.
Steve Bannon told The New York Post, “No Republican can stop Trump from the nomination; no Democrat can stop Trump from the presidency.”
In an article by The New York Post, many GOP voters are becoming more open to the idea of choosing DeSantis to run for president.
Ron DeSantis, however, is Trump-esque without the Trump baggage of multiple impeachments and the events of Jan. 6, 2021. DeSantis is willing to address legitimate culture-war issues, not just with rhetoric but with legislative action. DeSantis’ rise to political prominence came from him putting the people in Florida first during the pandemic by implementing commonsense measures that minimized the economic and social impact on the state’s residents.
However, many GOP voters are very keen on a third run for Trump.
“I support President Trump running in 2024,” said Rep. Elise Stefanik.
“If President Trump runs, he has my support,” said Rep, Jim Banks.
With inflation at some of the highest rates we’ve seen in 40 years, rising gas prices, and a weak presence in the world, the Biden administration is doing a great job at making everyone miss Donald Trump.
People want “America First” policies.
Will Trump run again in 2024? We all hope, but we will see as we get closer to the midterm elections in November.
