Louisiana Senator John Kennedy has warned Dr. Anthony Fauci that he will “spend a lot of time in front of Congressional committees” unless he does more to answer the American people’s questions about the handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Kennedy, who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, made the comments during an interview with Fox News’s Tucker Carlson on Thursday night.

“Dr. Fauci is a very nice man, but he’s not God,” Kennedy said. “Unless you do your research on Twitter, you know the American people have many, many questions about how Dr. Fauci, other public health officials, and our government handled the pandemic.”

The Louisiana senator went on to say that he believes there are “legitimate questions” about whether or not the lockdown measures were necessary and whether or not they did more harm than good.

“We need to get to the bottom of it,” Kennedy said. “Dr. Fauci is going to be spending a lot of time in front of Congressional committees answering those questions.”

Kennedy’s comments come as Fauci is set to retire from his post at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) later this month.

Fauci has come under fire from some Republicans in recent months for his handling of the pandemic, with some accusing him of being too cautious and others claiming he changed his recommendations based on political pressure from the Trump administration.

Earlier this week, Kennedy called for Fauci to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee so that he could answer questions about the handling of the pandemic.

“The American people deserve answers,” Kennedy said. “It’s time for Dr. Fauci to come before the Senate Judiciary Committee and answer our questions.”

Louisiana Senator John Kennedy had some choice words for Dr. Fauci during an appearance on Fox News’s “The Ingraham Angle.”

“Dr. Fauci has been wrong about everything I’ve listened to him about,” said Kennedy. “And he’s a very nice man. He’s been wrong about every major issue regarding the China virus.”

“He said we didn’t have to shut down, it was going to be contained in New York, it wasn’t going to come here. He said it was going to be like the flu, we didn’t need to change our behavior. He said there was no way it was going to mutate. Well it mutated. It’s now more contagious,” Kennedy continued.

“He said that the vaccines were going to take 12 to 18 months, and then he said six to nine months, and then he said by the end of the year. And now all of a sudden we have Pfizer and Moderna coming out with vaccines that look like they’re going to be 90-plus percent effective. I think we need to listen to Dr. Fauci, but I think we also need to verify and test what he says,” Kennedy concluded.

It’s clear that Senator Kennedy, and no doubt many others in Congress, are tired of the evasive answers and constantly changing information from Dr. Fauci. When Republicans take back the legislature this fall, Fauci will have a lot of questions to answer.
