On Tuesday, President Joe Biden, who attended an abortion rally in Manassas, Virginia opened his speech with, “Hello Virginia! And the real governor, Terry McAuliffe.”
He further said, “My name is Joe Biden. I’m Jill Biden’s husband and Kamala’s running mate. Kidding aside. Thank you, Kamala, for your leadership protecting reproductive freedom and for so much more that you do.”
However, his attempt at humor did not resonate with most Americans.
Biden has been criticizing former President Donald Trump for denying the results of the 2020 election and even made it the centerpiece of his campaign. Now, it seems that the tables have turned.
McAuliffe, the Democratic nominee for governor, lost to Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin in 2021. According to official results during Virginia’s 2021 gubernatorial election, Youngkin garnered the most votes at 50.57 percent, while McAuliffe only had 48.64 percent. The final tally shows that at least 63,840 voters in Virginia preferred Youngkin against the Democratic candidate. It was a comfortable margin of victory. At that time, the Virginia State Board of Elections was under Ralph Northam, a Democrat, who certified the results.
Long story short, there is no question on who is the duly elected governor of Virginia in 2021.
Youngkin replied to Biden on X, “Mr. President, I’m right here.”
The governor’s spokesman added, “There are only two options here: either the President doesn’t know who is the Governor of Virginia right now, or he’s denying the results of Virginia’s 2021 election.”
Biden’s remarks earned backlash among conservatives and known personalities on social media who called him an “election denier.”
Rep. Elise Stefanik wrote on X, “Joe Biden is an election denier in more ways than one.”
“I was informed that denying election results is the biggest threat to our democracy,” quipped LibsofTiktok.
Chris Barron said, “Sounds like Biden should be removed from the Virginia ballot.”
Another user asked, “will the media repudiate him?”
“Once again, Democrats get away with election denial- while simultaneously claiming it’s extremism,” says Kevin Nelson on X.
RNC Research blasted Biden and said, “This wasn’t Biden’s first bout with Election Denial.
In fact, in 2013, the President claimed that Al Gore “was elected president of the United States of America.”
He repeated the same statement in 2016.
McAuliffe also claimed the same during his term as the Democratic National Committee chairman, and as governor of Virginia, alleging that the “2000 election was stolen from Al Gore.”
On Wednesday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre attempted to clarify Biden’s remark and said that he was “making a joke.”
Well, it seems ironic that Republicans are called out as “election deniers,” yet when Biden does the same, they expect everyone to be okay with it.
