The GOP House Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, never wanted his congress members to mock Biden during his SOTU address. However, the Fox News White House reporter, Peter Doocy, wanted to know the reasoning.

The reporter stated:

“It looked like Joe Biden was standing up to the Republicans. It looked like you were trying to shush your side of the aisle.”

He asked:

“What happened?”

McCarthy replied:

“Well, the president was trying to goad the members, and the members are passionate about it. The one thing the president was saying is something he knew was not true. I just spent an hour with him, I have said it many times before: social security and Medicare are off the table.”

McCarthy added:

“He tries to use that for a political ploy. But the one thing we need to be is we need to be smart. He’s trying to play politics with the debt ceiling by not negotiating and by lying about our position. We need to be smart, don’t take the bait, and stay with the American public about what we want to do.”

A recent poll by AP-NORC revealed that only 37% of Democrats favored Biden for his second term. However, before the midterms, the same poll showed that 52% of Democrats supported Biden if he ran for the presidency again in 2024.

According to the AP report:

A recent poll showed approximately 41% of Americans are satisfied with how Biden managed the presidential position. A bunch of Democratic leaders are still happy with Biden’s management. However, their need for a re-election campaign has decreased in spite of Biden’s electoral track history.

The lack of interest among Dems, who approved Biden’s re-election, is mainly from young voters. Out of the seniors from the age group of 45, only 49% urge Biden to run for re-election. Around 58% were in favor of Biden’s re-election last October. Out of the age group under 45, 23% are willing that Biden should go for the next presidential election. However, in the poll before the midterms, there were 49% who favored Biden.

Biden gave a clue to numerous activists and Democratic leaders during an event as he announced that his final decision for 2024 re-election would be coming soon.

Biden informed the gathering in Philadelphia:

“We’re just getting started. I intend to get… more done. As of this month, we’ve created 12 million new jobs. We’ve created more new jobs in two years than any president did in their entire term.”
