The previous U.S. Vice President, Mike Pence, stated last weekend that history will hold Donald Trump “accountable” and remember him for mishandling the chaos that arose on January 6, 2021.

At the annual white-tie Gridiron Dinner in Washington, Pence stated:

“President Trump was wrong. I had no right to overturn the election.”

Pence added:

“Trump’s reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day, and I know history will hold Donald Trump accountable.”

Pence’s criticizing comments against Trump that he gave on Saturday in Washington were his most violent of all. He also gave hints on his preparation for the 2024 presidential run.

Following his failure against President Joe Biden in the 2020 reelection, Trump informed the GOP followers that Pence had the constitutional power to reverse Biden’s win as the ceremonial Electoral College votes were under his supervision.

However, Pence stated that he didn’t have that power, and approved the elections after the January 6, 2021 riot.

As Donald Trump has mocked his former Vice for having a shortage of courage, Pence has always tried not to take direct hits at Trump, however, that Saturday night, he didn’t hold back.

Pence jokingly stated:

“I read that some of those classified documents they found at Mar-a-Lago were actually stuck in the president’s Bible, which proves he had absolutely no idea they were there.”

Pence also joked about how Trump often forced him to sing the lyrics “Did you ever know that you’re my hero,” on weekly lunches to encourage his ego and pride.

Trump’s campaign team refused to give any remarks on Pence’s statements against the former president.
