FBI Director Christopher Wray is reportedly preparing to resign as President Trump advances with his nominee, Kash Patel, to take over the role.
Republican Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa has issued a scathing letter to Wray, urging him and Deputy Director Paul Abbate to step down for the sake of the nation. “For the good of the country, it’s time for you and your deputy to move on to the next chapter in your lives,” Grassley stated in his correspondence, expressing a clear vote of no confidence in Wray’s leadership.
According to The Washington Times, Wray is expected to depart by Inauguration Day, as he wishes to avoid being dismissed by President Trump. A source within the bureau confirmed, “He’s going to be gone at the inauguration. On or before the inauguration.” Following Wray’s exit, Abbate will assume the role of acting director and will appoint an acting deputy director. Initially, Abbate intended to remain until May or June to facilitate a smooth transition, but Grassley’s letter has altered those plans, prompting him to seek an alternative acting deputy director.

In a recent exchange, far-left NBC News anchor Kristen Welker attempted to corner Trump with a question regarding Wray’s future after the president-elect nominated Kash Patel for the FBI Director position. The Democrat-media complex has attempted to create controversy by asserting that Trump lacks the authority to fire Wray.
Senator Dick Durbin, the Democratic Majority Whip and Chair of the Judiciary Committee, defended Wray, claiming, “We already have a FBI Director, and his term doesn’t expire until 2027. Donald Trump can’t be allowed to hire and fire FBI Directors just because they failed his loyalty test.” This assertion is patently absurd; President Trump has the authority to dismiss the FBI Director for any reason.
During the interview, Welker pressed Trump on whether he would fire Wray, to which Trump responded, “Well, I can’t say I’m thrilled with him. He invaded my home. I’m suing the country over it. He invaded Mar-a-Lago. I’m very unhappy with the things he’s done and crime is at an all-time high.”

Trump further elaborated on his dissatisfaction, recalling, “And then when I was shot in the ear, [Wray] said oh maybe it was shrapnel…”
When pressed again about Wray’s future, Trump stated, “It would sort of seem pretty obvious that if Kash Patel gets in, he’s going to be taking somebody’s place, right? That somebody is the man you’re talking about.”
Ultimately, Wray’s resignation appears imminent, as he aligns himself with the inevitable transition of leadership.
Not surprised. I fully expect that the blanket pardons will be issued sometime after Christmas. Adam Bullschiff, et al will think that they are home free but they don’t realize that the pardons do no immunize them from being forced to testify, truthfully, to the committees investigating their treason.
