Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) held his ground and doubled his efforts in guarding the southern border amid the continuing surge of migrants attempting to enter the United States.

In a statement released Wednesday, Gov. Abbott blasted President Joe Biden for breaching the “compact” between the federal government and the states. The Lone Star State upheld its right to defend itself against the “invasion” of the southern border.

Abbott added, “The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting States, including immigration laws on the books right now. President Biden has refused to enforce those laws and has even violated them. The result is that he has smashed records for illegal immigration.”

The governor also accused Biden of not doing enough to protect the border and cited the Constitution, saying: “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.”

He also called the surge of illegal migrants an invasion, and the Biden administration failed to act upon it.

Abbott remarked, “James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and the other visionaries who wrote the U.S. Constitution foresaw that States should not be left to the mercy of a lawless president who does nothing to stop external threats like cartels smuggling millions of illegal immigrants across the border. That is why the Framers included both Article IV, § 4, which promises that the federal government “shall protect each [State] against invasion,” and Article I, § 10, Clause 3, which acknowledges “the States’ sovereign interest in protecting their borders.”

The Lone Star governor hit President Biden for ignoring federal statutes that mandate the detention of illegal immigrants. “The failure of the Biden administration to fulfill the duties imposed by Article IV, § 4 has triggered Article I, § 10, Clause 3, which reserves to this State the right of self-defense. For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself,” Abbott said.

Abbott made an identical statement in November 2022, which he sent to the White House.

Texas launched “Operation Lone Star” in a bid to stop the flow of illegal migrants.

The government of Texas is forced to double down its border security initiative as the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Biden administration last Monday which allowed the border agents to cut concertina wires installed by the state authorities.

Last year Customs and Border Protection reported 12,600 encounters in the southern border, a new daily record in a single day.

Border agents continue to process migrants while facilities exceed their capacity. According to a Fox News report, the southern border deals an average of 10,000 total migrants daily, a third of the entire Eagle Pass, and agents are outmanned to an alarming ratio of 200:1.

A video of a confrontation between an illegal migrant and a journalist went viral on social media. The immigrant said: “soon you will know who I am, very easily.” He is Movsum Samadov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Islamic Party. He was a convicted terrorist, who was recently released and entered the US through the southern border and into Arizona.
