Tucker Carlson aired his interview with former President Donald Trump on his Fox News program “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Tuesday evening.

It was Trump’s first interview since his arraignment in New York last week. Carlson sat down with the former president at his residence Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.

Carlson introduced the interview by reiterating the “Republican frontrunner for president [was] arrested by a Democratic prosecutor on political grounds.” Carlson called it an “amazing conversation.”

The interview began with questions about what it was like to be arraigned in court. Trump described the city employees as apologetic and upset about what was happening to him.

Carlson then noted that to most Americans it appears that New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case is pure politics and an effort to prevent Trump from “making it to the general election by tying him up in lawsuits and charging him with crimes.”

“The old Soviet process,” Trump replied, most likely a reference to the quote attributed to Soviet Internal Affairs Minister Lavrentiy Beria: “Show me the man, I’ll show you the crime.”

Trump haters and political opponents have been trying to pin something on the former president for years!

“Think of it, Tucker. I’ve been through seven years of investigations,” Trump continued.

“A friend of mine who’s a big business guy said, ‘You have to be the most honest guy in the world, because with all of those numbers that you have, in those big numbers, they don’t have anything’.”

“I mean, big numbers, billions and billions of dollars, and they get you on a perfect nondisclosure agreement where they get you and nothing,” he said.

Carlson asked, “If this goes to trial and you get convicted, how would you, in the middle of a presidential election, how would you respond?”

“It’s so off, the statute of limitations is years off,” Trump said just as many legal analysts have.

Trump said he doesn’t see this case going anywhere. But Carlson wanted a bottom-line answer.

“Is there anything they can throw at you legally that would convince you to drop out of the race?” Carlson asked.

Trump’s response was what you would expect. He said, “No, I’d never drop out.”

Many comments online criticized Carlson for doing the interview with the former president in light of Carlson’s personal text messages about Trump that emerged from Dominion Voting Systems’ $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News.

The Left hates Tucker Carlson as much as they despise Donald Trump so the private texts may have been taken out of context.

Even if they weren’t, Carlson has a job to do and sometimes that means overcoming personal feelings.

In his defense, the Fox News anchor said, “I said this to Trump when he called me, you know, all wounded about those texts. That was a moment in time where I was absolutely infuriated … and those were all grabbed completely illegitimately, in my opinion.”

It appears that Trump accepted Carlson’s explanation or it’s unlikely that he would have agreed to the exclusive interview.

How will this play out over the next 19 months?
