Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk called out the mainstream media for not reporting on the massive border crisis in Texas.
Elon Musk is not a stranger to speaking his mind on hot topics. He recently commented on a string of tweets by Fox News Correspondent Bill Melugin.
Melugin shared a tweet of hundreds of migrants illegally entering Eagle Pass, Texas. He said that Eagle Pass has seen approximately 400,000 illegal immigrant crossings since October 2021. He noted that that number is larger than the population of New Orleans. He also noted that the groups are made up of mostly single adults, not families.
“400k from one border crossing in less than a year?” Musk wrote in a tweet replying to Melugin’s thread. “That’s correct,” Melugin said in response, “400,000 in just the Del Rio sector since fiscal year 2022 began on October 1st, and that does not include getaways [sic].”
Most mainstream media does not cover the border crisis.
Truth Tent reported:
It should be noted that along with Fox News reporting on the crisis Texas Governor Greg Abbot has also been extremely vocal about the situation at the state’s border with Mexico. In the tweet immediately below, for example, Abbott says—in an interview with Fox News—that Texas is “using the National Guard to turn back illegal immigrants who are trying to come across the border and the Texas Department of Public Safety is arresting illegal immigrants who do make it into the state of Texas and returning them to the border.” The governor adds that “We have multiple strategies that we’re using; the busing to places like New York and D.C. is just one of those strategies.”
Many independent journalists share about the crisis at the border.
Jorge Ventura reported that, in Eagle Pass, law enforcement is averaging one deceased person per day, and that resources are spread thin.
And yet, not a word from the Biden administration on this humanitarian crisis and invasion.
Authorities at the border are trying to share what happens there, as well. Chief Patrol Agent Jason D. Owens reported that “The Del Rio Sector is still encountering many unaccompanied children.”
He adds that “With high water levels & temperatures in the triple digits, crossing illegally is extremely dangerous, especially for children.
Recently, Fox News reported that illegal immigrants entering the United States, since Biden came into office, have cost taxpayers more than $20 billion a year.
They reported:
The study by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), which advocates for lower levels of immigration overall, calculates that the illegal immigrants who have entered the U.S. since Jan. 2021 will add an extra $20.4 billion burden a year, in addition to the $140 billion existing illegal immigrants already cost.
The analysis is based on an estimated 1.3 million released into the U.S. by immigration officials, as well as approximately one million “gotaways” — or illegal immigrants who have slipped past overwhelmed agents. FAIR calculates that each illegal immigrants cost $9,232 a year to support.
The U.S. has been in the midst of a massive border crisis since early 2021, with more than 1.7 million migrant encounters in FY 2021, and more than two million in FY 2022 so far. While many of those encounters are repeat encounters, and nearly half are removed under Title 42 public health protections, a considerable number are released into the U.S. for asylum hearings.
Imagine what that money could be spent on in the U.S., like homeless veterans, infrastructure, and more.
