On Thursday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott mandated public hospitals within the state to gather data on patients’ immigration statuses and report it to the state government.
Order GA 46 commands the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to gather information about undocumented immigrants utilizing people’s money for medical services so the state can monitor how much money the state spends on illegal immigrants’ health care and send the bill to the Biden regime, who’s to blame for the surge of migrants in the US.
“Due to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ open border policies, Texas has had to foot the bill for medical costs for individuals illegally in the state,” Abbott said in a statement.
“Texas should not have to shoulder the burden of financially supporting medical care for illegal immigrants.”
“That is why I issued an Executive Order requiring the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to collect and report healthcare costs for illegal immigrants in our state,” he continued.
“Texas will hold the Biden-Harris Administration accountable for the consequences of their open border policies, and we will fight to ensure that they pay back Texas for their costly and dangerous policies.”
The rule will take effect on November 1.
Hospitals will send the data quarterly, and the first submission is expected on March 1. Starting on January 1, 2026, the governor, lieutenant governor, and the state’s Speaker of the House must receive the annual reports on the previous year’s costs of medical care given to undocumented aliens.
Abbott also posted the announcement on X, with the caption: “Texans should NOT have to foot the bill for illegal immigrants healthcare. I issued an Executive Order directing HHSC to collect & report healthcare costs for illegal immigrants. We’ll fight to ensure the Biden-Harris Admin pays back Texas for their costly open border policies.”
Meanwhile, Kansas AG Kris Kobach is leading the charge to block the Biden regime from giving illegal immigrants free health care through Obamacare.
The crooked Biden administration has been working hard to distribute access to Obamacare among DACA recipients, twisting the DACA definition to fit the requirements for these illegals to receive and be included in the coverage.
“You have to have entered the U.S. illegally to qualify for DACA status. The 2012 memo creating DACA affirms that it ‘confers no substantive right, immigration status or pathway to citizenship. Only the Congress, acting through its legislative authority, can confer these rights.’ And at least two federal courts have held DACA itself to be illegal,” Kobach argued.
“The new Biden-Harris rule will worsen the disaster at the border. When word about taxpayer-subsidized healthcare reaches the home countries of would-be illegal aliens, many more will make the journey. When you reward illegal behavior, you get more of it,” he continued.
