House Speaker Nancy Pelosi got a cold welcome in New York City when she made an appearance at the Global Citizen’s music festival in Central Park on Saturday. The crowd booed her as she stepped onto the stage.

“As speaker of the house, I am here to thank you for your dazzling advocacy, entrepreneurial thinking, and determination as global citizens,” she told the crowd.

“It’s thanks to your help that the United States recently enacted historic climate legislation, which will be a game changer,” Pelosi said. “It will slash carbon pollution by 40% by 2030, it will give a historic, an historic $370 billion to fight the climate crisis.”

Fox News reported:

Pelosi, wearing a white pantsuit with a matching scarf, took to the stage of NYC’s Global Citizen music festival where she was booed by those in the audience, as videos on social media appear to show.

After being introduced to the stage by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, an actress who is married to Nick Jonas, Pelosi briefly spoke about carbon pollution and climate change.

Pelosi tried to continue her speech, she said the bill would result in “better water and air for our children” as well as “better-paying jobs and lower energy bills for their parents.”

The crowd was not listening to her and many audience members shouted for her to go or get off the stage.

The annual music festival offers free tickets to tens of thousands of fans who take action toward ending extreme poverty.

Global Citizen tweeted out its thanks to Pelosi for the appearance.

“Thank you, @SpeakerPelosi for recognizing Global Citizens all around the world who took action in support of the new, historic climate legislation in the US!” the tweet stated.

The New York Post reported:

Key members of President Biden’s cabinet are going on tour in a bid to promote the $737 billion energy, climate, and health care legislation passed by Congress last week.

As part of the “Building a Better America Tour,” Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, and Interior Secretary Deb Haaland will travel across the country to tout the inappropriately named Inflation Reduction Act, according to an internal memo obtained by Politico.

“The cost-lowering features of the Inflation Reduction Act — lowering health care costs, prescription drug costs, and utility bills — are among the highest testing messages ever,” the memo reads.

Many Democrat candidates went on a tour promoting this bill, and there was a celebration at the beginning of September for it.
