After years of dedicated service, CNN is parting ways with Chief Media Correspondent and “Reliable Sources” host Brian Stelter.
In a statement to NPR, Stelter said that he and his team appreciate the show for their hard work in looking at “the media, truth and the stories that shape our world.”
Steltzer: “It was a rare privilege to lead a weekly show focused on the press at a time when it has never been more consequential.”
The network has not yet announced a replacement for Stelter or “Reliable Sources.” The move comes as CNN is making significant changes to its daytime lineup, including the recent addition of former Fox News host Megyn Kelly.
Stelter joined CNN in 2013 after four years at The New York Times, where he covered the media industry. He quickly established himself as one of the most prominent media reporters in the country and a mainstay on CNN’s airwaves.
“Reliable Sources” is one of the few shows on CNN that regularly criticizes the Trump administration and its allies in the media. In recent months, Stelter has been a vocal critic of Fox News, often sparring with the network’s hosts on Twitter.
Stelter’s departure is likely to be celebrated by many on the right who have long accused him of being a liberal partisan. But his colleagues at CNN are likely to see it as a for the network.

“Brian is one of the most respected media reporters in the business and we are sorry to see him go,” said former CNN President Jeff Zucker in a statement. “We wish him all the best.”
CNN’s executive Vice President Amy Entelis: “Stelter came to CNN from the New York Times as the nation’s top media reporter. He departs CNN an impeccable broadcaster. We are proud of what Brian and his team accomplished over the years, and we’re confident their impact and influence will long outlive the show.”
This comes as no surprise, as sources have been saying for weeks that Stelter was on his way out.
One source even claimed that management was confident Stelter was the one sharing the internal pushback to fellow media reporters while simultaneously stirring discontent within the ranks.
Stelter was criticized for his close relationship with former CNN president Jeff Zucker, who had to resign after being exposed as having a long-term affair with a married colleague.
A source at the network told The New York Times that Mr. Lemon “is allegedly our top media reporter, but he didn’t cover the scoop that everyone in the office already knew about.” If he claims he didn’t know, he is terrible at his job, according to an anonymous source at CNN.
Now, it seems, the network has had enough of Stelter’s shenanigans and has finally shown him the door.
According to The Daily Wire, CNN has canceled Brian Stelter’s show “Reliable Sources” after weeks of poor ratings.
The move comes as a huge setback for CNN, which is already struggling with low ratings and recently failed miserably with its online service CNN+.
Stelter has been a major critic of President Donald Trump and his administration, so it’s no surprise that his show would be canceled after Trump’s successful first term in office.
