“I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for president in 2024,” says House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) in a statement he posted in X on Tuesday.
Scalise further expressed his eagerness to work with “President Trump and a Republican House and Senate to fight for those families who are struggling under the weight of Biden’s failed policies.”
According to his statement published by Fox News, Scalise weighed over Trump’s policies on migration concerns at the southern border and economic indicators during his first term in office.
House No. 2 believes that during Trump’s administration, “the economy was strong, interest rates were low, grocery costs were affordable, and families could afford to buy a house and provide for their children.”
He added, “The border was secure and crime was down. America had secure energy policies, keeping gas and utility prices low.”
Scalise also slammed Biden’s failed open-border policy.
“Fiscal Year 2023 surpassed Fiscal Year 2022 as the worst year at the border with the most migrant encounters on record, 169 individuals on the terrorist watchlist apprehended attempting to enter illegally, and over 27,000 pounds of fentanyl seized by the CPB.”
“In Joe Biden’s America, our communities aren’t safe,” Scalise blasted.
Trump outruns other Republican primary contenders with 62.5 percent support, according to a recent poll conducted by RealCleaPolitics. He is succeeded by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Governor Niki Haley, who both garnered only 11.2 percent.

The endorsement from the House Majority Leader is very timely, as the Iowa Republican Caucus is expected in two weeks.
Trump acknowledged Scalise’s support on Truth Social and said, “Thank you, Steve; it is a great honor to have your wonderful endorsement. I will not let you, or our country, down!”
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La) and House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) were among the first Republicans to endorse Trump.
Johnson said in November, “I have endorsed him wholeheartedly.”
“I expect he’ll be our nominee, and we have to make Biden a one-term president.”
Meanwhile, Rep. Stefanik said in a statement, “I am proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for President in 2024.”
“I fully support [Trump] running again. Under his presidency, America was strong at home and abroad, our economy was red hot, our border was secure, our neighborhoods were safe, our law enforcement was respected, and our enemies feared us.”
“We cannot afford another four years of Joe Biden’s failed policies that have led to the inflation crisis, border crisis, and crime crisis. It is time for Republicans to unite around the most popular Republican in America, who has a proven track record of conservative governance.”
With just a few months away from state primaries, the former president now has at least 100 House Republicans and 18 GOP senators supporting him.
