Huge Victory: Upcoming New Pro Life State Legislation Could Make Abortion Techniques in Florida Illegal after 15 weeks

On Tuesday, Republicans in Florida introduced legislation that makes abortion illegal 15 weeks after conception. The proposal was introduced on the opening day of the state’s annual legislative session by state Sen. Kelli Stargel and Rep. Erin Grall as according to Fox News.

According to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is running for reelection this year, there is a lot of pro-life legislation. He said, “I believe that looking into what has been done in some of these other regions – I mean, when you start talking about 15 weeks, when you have really major pain and heartbeats and all of this – having safeguards makes a lot of sense”.

State House Speaker Chris Sprowls, a Republican, also approved the legislation, and Senate President Wilton Simpson expressed optimism that they would succeed.

There are no exceptions for rape or incest, however abortions are permitted in circumstances of substantial harm to the mother or if the embryo has a fatal abnormality. Women in Florida can now get abortions up to 24 weeks during their pregnancy.

Democrats being the minority in both chambers of the legislature of Florida, have said firmly that they would vote against the bill. Democrats of Florida said, “We will continue to battle determinedly for a woman’s right to choose and access health care,” said Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book.
