Huge Win For Patriotism: ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Nears $1.2B Beating Titanic As Paramount’s Highest-Grossing Domestic Film

It does seem that the sensible masses (two words one doesn’t often see in a row) are repudiating woke films. In fact, The Raging Patriot recently reported that on Twitter, The Angry Astronaut asked Elon Musk the following: “Just curious…what is your motivation to become politically active? Why make yourself a target? You are trying to get mankind to Mars and alert the public to the danger of AI. Why sabotage these worthwhile goals by wading into political controversy? Is it worth it?” Elon Musk’s response was this: “Unless it is stopped, the woke mind virus will destroy civilization and humanity will never reached Mars.”

Now, it is being reported that Top Gun: Maverick continues to make the right kind of history clearing $600 million dollars at the domestic box office and beating Titanic to become Paramount’s most successful North American movie.

Paramount Pictures issued a statement that said: “Paramount Pictures today announced that Top Gun: Maverick’s first-run release has surpassed Titanic first-run release as the studio’s highest-grossing domestic film in its 110-year history, with over $601.919M in US box office to-date.

“In its original 1997 release, Titanic grossed $600.788M. This latest milestone comes on the heels of Paramount Pictures dominating the box office in the first half of 2022.

“The studio is currently #1 in domestic box office so far for the year, with nearly $1.04B in cumulative gross and over 24% of the market share—the studio’s best year since 2014,” the statement said.

Brian Robbins, CEO of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon, said:

“For 110 years, Paramount Pictures has produced and distributed some of the most iconic films in Hollywood history, including the all-time classic Titanic, which marks its 25th anniversary this year.

“Top Gun: Maverick is a phenomenal motion picture, and we take deep pride in celebrating this tremendous achievement alongside Tom Cruise, our filmmakers and cast, our marketing and distribution teams, and, of course, all the new and original Top Gun fans, without whom this wouldn’t have been possible.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

“In June, the movie passed $1 billion at the global box office, the first Tom Cruise film to achieve the milestone and the first to do so this year. 

“To date, the movie has earned $595.6 million in international receipts for a cumulative total of nearly $1.2 billion, globally.

“The domestic box office milestone has been accomplished by only a handful of titles, largely Marvel films.

“Currently, The Tom Cruise movie ranks 12th in all-time North American ticket sales, with the 11th and 10th spots held by Incredibles 2 ($608 million) and Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($620 million), respectively.”
