Hunter Biden caused nothing but disturbance as he gave a surprise attendance during a hearing by the House Oversight Committee holding him in contempt of Congress last Wednesday.
His presence caused tension among the Democratic and Republican lawmakers.
The first son once stated that he was ready to face GOP lawmakers as long as it was a “public hearing”, but all this proved to be nothing, but a political stunt as Hunter scrambled to leave Congress when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene began grilling him.
Greene has long been critical of Biden. The GOP lawmaker even presented sexually explicit images of him during a hearing last summer.
“I think it’s clear and obvious for everyone watching this hearing today that Hunter Biden is terrified of strong conservative Republican women because he can’t even face my words as I was about to speak to him. What a coward,” Greene said.
Hunter and his legal team were met by a horde of journalists as they hurriedly walked out of the room.
One reporter noticed the first son seemed to be high and asked him if he was under the influence of crack and “what sort” of crack he liked.
Biden stood idly as his lawyer Abbe D. Lowell, delivered their prepared speech.
Lowell claims again that Hunter is willing to attend any Congressional deposition but emphasizes that it should be done under the younger Biden’s terms.
Rep. James Comer (R-Ky), chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, slammed the first son and clarified that the lawmakers would set the rules of his appearance, not Biden.
“Mr. Biden doesn’t make the rules,” Comer said. “We make the rules.”
Hunter defied a subpoena sent by the lawmakers requiring him to appear for a closed-door deposition last December 13.
During the last week of December, Republican representatives demand all communications between the Biden administration and Hunter’s lawyers regarding his evasion of the scheduled deposition.
This is in light of a statement made by the White House that the President was “aware in advance” that his son would defy these congressional subpoenas.
Republicans have been pursuing an impeachment investigation to link President Joe Biden to his son’s business affairs for several months. Concerns have been raised regarding the Biden family’s foreign business ethics, and lawmakers maintain that their data shows a concerning picture of “influence peddling” in their transactions, especially with foreign clients.
Aside from this, the younger Biden is currently facing federal gun and tax charges.
