The Democrats are now starting to feel the pressure of the 2024 presidential elections, as a new survey reveals majority of Black, Hispanic, and young voters are in favor of former President Donald Trump.
According to the USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll, Biden failed to consolidate support in key sectors that voted for him in 2020. This resulted in a 2% lead in favor of the GOP leader, 39%-37%; 17% of the respondents expressed support for an unnamed third-party candidate.

Biden’s support from Black voters overwhelmingly declined from 87% in 2020 to just 63%, as recorded by the latest poll.
Director of Suffolk’s Political Research Center David Paleologos noted that “Although Trump hasn’t grown support among Black voters, he has closed the deficit because third-party voters come off of Biden’s support among Blacks.”
“A young voter or a person of color voting ‘third party’ is a vote away from President Biden, and a vote away from President Biden is a vote for Donald Trump.”
According to the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research at Cornell University, the 81-year-old president is also trailing Trump by five percentage points, where 39% back Trump while only 34% favor the incumbent. In 2020, Biden got 65% of the votes of Latino voters.
For young voters, Biden only garnered 33 percent of the votes, giving Trump a narrow 4 percent lead, with 37 percent votes.
A lot of voters younger than 35 expressed discontent with Biden’s stance on the Israel-Hamas war.
Aside from an increase in votes, the pressure is high for Biden to ignite enthusiasm among his supporters to vote in November.
According to the survey, 44% of Trump’s base rated themselves 10 on a scale measuring their enthusiasm. However, for Biden, only 18% marked themselves “10”.
Despite legal woes, support for Donald Trump continues to gain traction.
A Republican from Orange County, California who was part of the recent survey remarked, “Donald Trump, he has integrity.”
James Traylor, a Republican-leaning independent based in Forney, Texas said, “I voted for him the first time around and I was happy with his presidency and voted for him a second time.”
Trump also leads in the GOP primaries, where 62% of the Republican primary voters favor the former president. This rating is a record high for him.
Respondents of the survey were 1,000 likely voters and was conducted through landline and cell phone from Tuesday to Friday. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
