The state of Arizona wants to challenge the Biden administration for withholding public funds as a result of its unwillingness to impose a school mask mandate. Republican Gov. Doug Ducey discussed the decision with Fox News host Martha MacCallum on Friday, after the administration threatened to withhold COVID-19 relief payments from the state for refusing to mandate kids to wear masks while attending in-person courses.
The United States Department of Treasury is once again seeking to overstep its constitutional limits and legislate to Arizona how it should administer and support its schools, according to a letter from state Attorney General Mark Brnovich. “Arizona will challenge the Biden administration in response to this federal overreach and the ongoing bullying and attacks on our state,” Ducey stated. “We will use the cash provided by Congress to assist our youngsters in catching up in school.” “We want the money to go to families that need to get their child into a working school with a teacher in front,” he continued.
“There has been no responsibility to the unions for the amount of money provided to them.” “They are still focused on Arizona,” Ducey answered. “This president is fascinated with masks and requirements for some reason.” He is uninterested in math, reading, or writing. That’s why we’re working hard to educate our children on American civics so they can understand federalism. Ducey also claimed that his state expects to offer programs this summer to help pupils to make up for lost learning due to pandemic-related school closures and extended periods of remote learning.
“In Arizona, we’re putting them back in the classroom with a teacher at the helm,” Ducey continued. “If a school district refuses to comply, we’re giving families with flexible funding to go wherever in the state to successfully serve their child.” Earlier last month, a federal judge blocked the Biden administration’s COVID-19 immunization mandate for Head Start teachers and children. The preliminary injunction ordered by U.S. District Judge Terry A. Doughty in response to a complaint filed by 24 states also prevents the mandate’s requirement that Head Start children aged 2 and above wear masks when inside or in close contact with others.
