DOJ Opens Investigation Into Left-Wing Riot Backers Following Major Discovery

New revelations have led the Trump administration to intensify its probe into the funding sources behind a series of left-wing riots that have erupted in Los Angeles and other American cities.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard stated last week that the Department of Justice is investigating those responsible for anonymous job ads that offered individuals large sums of money to participate in pro-immigration demonstrations in Los Angeles—some of which turned violent and resulted in widespread property damage.

In a Wednesday interview with Fox News’ Jesse Watters, Gabbard confirmed that federal investigators are tracking financial transactions tied to the unrest. She also accused California Governor Gavin Newsom of indirectly aiding Mexican drug cartels by failing to stop the violence before President Trump intervened.

“Whether he knows it or not, he is, certainly,” she said of Newsom.

“Again, this is something that the Department of Justice and the FBI is looking into — who is funding these protesters,” Gabbard continued.

“We’ve seen the ads put up on Craigslist offering people thousands of dollars a week to go out and conduct these violent and dangerous riots in the streets of not only Los Angeles, but we saw earlier in Chicago, New York, and other cities across the country,” she added.

While the Associated Press has previously reported that at least one Craigslist post advertising paid protester roles was a hoax, Trump officials continue to scrutinize the financial backers of various demonstrations.

The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIR), which has received over $34 million in government grants for immigration advocacy efforts, has been tied to some of the protests triggered by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid. According to The Western Journal, at least $450,000 of that funding came from the Department of Homeland Security during the Biden administration.

The Trump-era DHS has since moved to recover much of the federal funding provided to CHIR, with over $100,000 still pending.

U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) recently sent a formal request to a Los Angeles-based organization, demanding access to its financial and communications records related to its involvement in early protest activity.

Separately, the AFL-CIO—America’s largest labor union federation—has been linked to the unrest through an international development group that helped sponsor a “No Kings” rally in Minnesota last Saturday. The event, reportedly an extension of earlier violence in Los Angeles, took a deadly turn when a participant was fatally shot during a similar rally in Utah.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was listed as a headlining speaker at the union-backed event, according to an independent investigator.

“Bluntly: AFL-CIO is one of the key taxpayer-funded organizations in effecting regime change all over the world,” DataRepublican wrote in summary in a lengthy thread on X. “That AFL-CIO is openly involved in sponsoring the No Kings rally should raise extreme concerns as to the rally’s true purpose.”
